lol did you guys here that in 9 months they are predicting a baby boom?
Shades of Grey babies lol
Det... Bring it for me Friday pls. In a bag
I'm getting my set back this arvo ...
It will be a competition between Grey and Hunger Games ...
I wonder who will win?
Or maybe I should alternate a chapter for a chapter, and just see what happens ...
BTW: last night I was learning how to use the pottery wheel, and the building and crushing stages are really, really phalic ... might have a new meaning next week!!
I just finished reading it and I really liked it!! Off to buy the other two!
Is it totally tragic that I actually cried at the end?!? I'm d'loading #2 as we speak... I'm a total Christian Grey tragic!
Jakabella- I totally get where you are coming from!!!
Is anyone else totally pained by the writing?? I'm cringing in parts because it's so badly written.
Yeah me too, parts could have much better written she got Mr Grey's character spot on but the writing can get repetitive. I don't like some of the terms she uses or the inner goddess references.
I was going to download this on my kindle, but then when I searched for it a whole heap of other erotica come up as suggestions so I've been reading those instead ;) Have found some excellent authors too. Now I just have to make sure I don't lend my kindle to anyone for a look LOL - I have them hidden within a category called 'Uni' but I don't know how successful that will be.
Ooh, please share Trillian ;)
The author I've downloaded most of is Abbie Cole. They are nice stories to read because they are like a mills and boon story on crack LOL because there is actual substance to them and not just all about the sex. They were only 99cent titles too!
There was one bad BDSM book that I downloaded that was way OTT and it made me cringe in parts because it was very male-dominated and a lot of rape overtones :(
 yes Nikki, the drug not the bum crack
I'm now 1/2 way through number 2 and I only dl it last night!!
I just saw big w have them for just under $10
I have had the PDF files of these books sent to but I'm yet to start them - maybe if I get 5 mins tonight I'll pop them on my tablet and start reading!
I came across this blog in my travels yesterday Bad Books, Good Times | Two english majors, too many terrible books and OMG it totally sums up this book  I don't even have to read it now.
is it true that it was initially started as a twilight fanfic???
I don't know Peanutter? It could have been. Everything that blog says about it indicates that it was fanfiction.
Yes it was started as fanfiction and was very popular when it was a free download, which is why it was picked up. But yeaah, the writing is cringworthy. If it has been editted, I would hate to see what it was like before.
Pretty sure most of the readers aren't too concerned with the poor sentence structure and grammar though. :p
I gotta say I'm not reading for the writing or sentence structure!!
I admit I have read all three books, and by the third book was skim reading, if not actually skipping, the steamy scenes as they were all the same by the end.
I saw one of the other books in Myer today and it was called 'Fifty Shades of Freed' Seriously? WTF kind of book title is that? Even if I didn't already know that the writing was terrible, I'd immediately know it by reading that title
I'm another who battled through the first book because of the writing. I mean, what is it with her mindless inner monologue?? Every time she gets aroused, "Oh my!" "Holy crap!" etc etc.
And I enjoyed Twilight, so that should give you some indication of how VERY bad this book is! There's several hours of my life I'm never getting back.
Trill, stick with the blog! What I read of it was funny.
Loved Ellen's reading too.
For those who aren't offended by jabs at Stephanie Meyer, search YouTube for 'Alex reads Twilight' - chapter by chapter, that was great for a giggle as well.
I'm up to Freed. As bad as the writing is I don't care. I now have a Christian Grey obsession & I'm not afraid to admit it ;)
I have a crush on him too! Miss him :)
I have finished all three books. I miss Christian Grey and his controlling ways.
Yep, this is one of the reasons I've popped back for a visit... to get a reliable set of opinions on this book! :) So thanks especially, Rouge, Trillian, Astrid etc keep the thoughts coming.
Also, I have an unedited book that, when I finally have my life back after uni, I hope to finish and it's kinda motivating to hear that people are largely forgiving of the quality of writing IF the story is good!
I haven't read the Twilight series... so won't really understand those connections.
Also... one reason I haven't read FSOG is that my DH doesn't wear his suits and ties anymore since he stopped working :( I miss that and I'm worried that it'll just make me even sadder... but that's pretty shallow isn't it?
LOL, it's more about what you do with the ties, I think.
I'm another totally crushing on Mr Grey!!
DP loves that I love the books - happy wife, happy life? Happy DP!!
