Angels and Demons - Dan Brown

I read this book while on holiday - I read it overnight coz once I started I just couldn't put it down! Dan Brown also wrote 'The Da Vinci Code', and this books being made into a movie as well.

I would SERIOUSLY recommend reading Angels and Demons, it was one of the best books I've read

I wouldn't call it a sequel, but it is still dealing with the Catholic Church.

In this one, Vatican City is threatened by the return of a very old enemy, the Illuminati. Basically (according to the book), the Illuminati was a secret society of scientists, started in the 1600's when science was outlawed by the church, and scientists were persecuted. Now, 400 years later, science has come back to take its revenge.

I've probably made it sound really boring, but its got Robert Langdon in it like Da Vinci Code, and I found it easy to understand and absolutely riveting

I thought the Illuminati were connected to the Freemasons? Maybe I'm wrong...

    I MUST read it!!!

I saw the movie of the Da Vinci code before I read the book but I still loved the book. Sometimes it's best to read the book first though.

Stayed up late last night watching it again. I still got that creepy rush at the ending!

I think, putting aside the religious arguments, it is one of the best mystery/suspence books or movies that I've ever read/watched!!! Purely as a fictional work I mean. The fact that certain people claim that there is elements of truth to it make it even more exciting to me!

OOOO I'm looking forward to this next one. Wonder what massive blow up will come of it. Will it be like last time?

It is the Prequel to DaVinci Code.
The DVC does not really follow on from it except in the first chapter where he speaks of his love, Vittoria, what happened 'last month' and the reason behind why they would be calling him. The religious cryptology, because he dealt with religious issues in Angels and Demons. There is no significance, but I am dislking how the preview for A&D seem to be promoting it as a sequel.

    I thought it was fantastic.
It is very much dealing with the idea that Genesis and The Big Bang can co-exist, etc. It is a bit strange in parts, but oh-so-thrilling. It is very, very captivating and if you are an anxiety freak over scary books and movies like me, read it mostly in the daytime!

The book actually discusses how the Freemasons and the Illuminati were connected - fascinating!

I think that's part of why I loved is so much is because there is so much real information in there. i can see why so many people took it all as truth though. It can be hard to distinguish the facts from the story when it's written so well.
