I read them too back in 1983 when I was 13 but I read anything back then and cant remember the details. It would probably disturb me more if i read them as an adult with children of my own though.

I read them and i had my own hard cover copies until a few years ago. My mum gave them to me to read also, i have no idea why because i was way too young and so much of it i never understood

The movie scared the crap out of me! But I think i read the first 2 - 3 books and thought the story line to be quite repetitive (i think that was teh reason why i stopped reading them 12 yrs ago! LOL)
