What books will you never read again. Not the ones you put down and forget because they are dreary but the ones that you couldn't put down but have such dreadful themes/endings that you don't want put yourself through it again.
For me -
The boy in the striped pyjamas
We need to talk about Kevin (I will never watch the movie either *shudder*)
The lovely bones
The middle book from the Call The Midwife series - tales of the Workhouse.
A Thousand Splendid Suns - in fact I gave the book away, far too upsetting to read again
I don't re-read plays, I'd rather see them performed.
I second The Lovely Bones.
Also any of those A Boy Called It series. Or any of the abused child real life stories that I've made the mistake of reading even once. Given my background I have no idea what I was thinking!
The City Of Light - Snow town murders...quite disturbing and just too close to home.
also my sisters keeper (Ithrew the book across the room in tears at the last page) and anything by the same author (have read most of them) whose name eludes me at this present moment!
I very rarely re-read books as once I know the story then I'd rather read something else. Generally I only re-read light, enjoyable fiction like Harry Potter.
I would never read any of the abuse books again, like A Child Called It and Sybil.
Lord of the Rings - a phenomenal read but NEVER again.
And I read it well before the movies were made ... something I've always been a tad introvertly smug about
I have read The Light Between Oceans and would probably read it again in a few years because I enjoy reading books I like (even if they made me cry at crazy hours in the morning, waking dh up lol).
