I really enjoyed the hunger games :)
I gave up on Fifty Shades, and finished Tina Fey's Bossypants quite quickly - it was a hoot and a half! There were bits to do with parenting that I sympathised with (as an overworked career woman) and other bits (to do with bith, breastfeeding, etc) where I felt sad for her, because I don't know whether she didn't know about some different options, or didn't have much support, or she has regrets and is joking about it from a place or pain, or she is serious about her position (and I just disagree with her). If she just has a different opinion from me, that's totally fine - that does happen ;) And if she's disagreeing after knowing her options and making a decision, that's totally fine. But if it's because she didn't have support, or didn't know other options were out there, then that's sad ... But that was a very small part of the book, and I mostly found it very funny.
I am currently reading "When My Husband Does the Dishes" which is also quite funny, but I'm relating to it less so far.
About to embark on the next book in the *I Am Number Four* series....
*The Rise of Nine*... fingers crossed it's awesome!
I'm about half way through Fifty Shades. All I can say is ho hum . . .
Definitely going to have to search for something else to read because its boring me to tears
I have just finished "The Stone Angel" by Katherine Scholes. I picked it up at a super cheap sale over Christmas and recently got to it. I have to say, it's one of the best books I've read in ages. I highly recommend it.
Now I'm on to "House Rules" by Jodie Piccoult.
Just seen in all the junk mail this morning that there is a new Reacher novel due out next week so that will be my next read given I'm about 3 minutes away from giving up on 50 Shades. Looking forward to reading it, but must confess to being a little concerned at how quickly Childs is turning them out these days. Can't help but think he's going for nothing but the almight dollar (as if the casting of Tom Cruise in his movie wasn't enough of an indication of that!) and the quality might start to slip even more.
Just finished Absolute Power by David Baldacci, I enjoyed it. Not earth shattering great but a good read!
My sister has lent me Sweet Poison. Have been wanting to read it for a while. First I better eat another Tim Tam :p
Started Bared to you by Sylvia Day. 100 times better written than Fifty Shades. Story line similar.
I am just about to finish When in Rome by Nicky Pellegrino. A beautiful story about a the daughter of an Italian prostitute who goes to work with her idol Mario Lanza, her sister wants to sing in his new movie.
I have just loaded my Kobo with new Marian Keyes - The Mystery of Mercy Close and Monica McInerney - House of Memories :D
War Brides by Helen Bryan. About 5 young women in WWII England. It started off very promising and I really enjoyed it. I felt the ending was a bit rushed though. The characters were very well developed and I felt like I knew them all.
A while ago I finished book 5 of Game of Thrones and I'm devastated :-( I just don't know what to read next, nothing's grabbing me like that did.
I read The Great Gatsby and decided that if that is America's best ever book they surely don't have very good writers over there. What's so fantastic about it? And why can't a proper author write could have instead of could of? I also don't understand why they get so het up about people making it into a movie. Seems to me that'd it'd be easy to turn into a movie and I reckon I'd like it better.
Now reading Les Miserables. So far I think it's weird. Very short chapters that all seem to start with "now we must tell you all about this characteristic of the Bishop".
Did you also read the mini book she put out on the description of the Walsh family members? I am considering downloading that as well.
I love Monica McInerney, she is Australian born living in Ireland so they mostly have an Irish connection. Her first three books were part of a trilogy. Excellent reads.
I'm reading Marian's "Under the Duvet" ... I read "Further Under the Duvet" ages ago, not realising there was an earlier one!
I got too excited waiting for her new one to arrive, so I grabbed UTD as an appetiser, but now clearly must finish it before I launch into The Mystery of Mercy Close ...
What's the mini book called? I've not heard of it.
Or that other author ...
Hmmm.
ah. No e-reader here. :)
Kaytee, you're going to have to apologise for your Gatsby slurs :o ;)
It's not the best US book, but it's one of them :)
It's already a movie (they are doing a remake). Gatsby is played by Robert Redford.
PN - I love my e-reader, my DH got if for me one year for my birthday. It is fantastic on the train. I often have to stand and can hold this one handed in tight spots
