The stuff I got today is solid.

The choc mug cake turned out ok - didn't mind the taste.

In Qld too - brought home in car which sat in carpark for several hours during day - only had a little runny pool in middle at top - wasn't hot here today though.

What's the best way to soften it? over a tub of hot water? putting it in a microwave and nuking it feels wrong

You can scoop it out instead of melting it. But run under warm water or sit in container of warm water. Yes microwaving would ruin some of its properties.

I love coconut oil and have been using it for about 6 months now... for cooking, body and hair. I wish I had known about it years ago. it makes the best chocolate crackles, just substitute for copha. I am always rubbing it into the ends of my coloured hair to keep them looking nice (I have very long hair and they get dry).

I have two homes: one here at uni and one in the next town and I keep a jar at each place... this is how central it is to my existence!

    Re: Coconut oil...

Are there recipes where you can use the oil and not have the taste? Seems silly but my kids are alittle over the flavour/smell.
Perhaps I just need to change when/ how I use it

Best chocolate fudge frosting Ive ever made was
    1 Cup Coconut oil
1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder (I used a good quality raw cacao so didn't need the full cup)
1/3 cup maple syrup (I didn't have any so used golden syrup)
    2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp coffee in hot water

whip in blender until mixed. It was awesome in my daughters 1st birthday cake1

I'm just starting out with using coconut oil, I believe you can now get a tasteless coconut oil for cooking if you're not into the whole coconut taste in all of your food.

I've been given a recipe for healthy chocolate crackles using cacao powder, coconot oil, rice puffs and honey - I can't wait to try it!
