It's not so much that they go off, but I've found with packet mixes they just don't mix up properly kwim? Even the other day I used a packet cheese sauce and it wasn't past its best before and it didn't mix up properly and went really lumpy looking. And the 'best before' date is just that - the product is at its best before that date - after that it might be OK to use, but just not as good. But if it had an expiry date, then I would be inclined to think that if it was past that date it would be no good.

    Don't use it Simone.

Make Martin go and buy a new one. They only cost a couple of dollars.

OMG I just realised that's 9 years old !!! Throw the crap out girl.

i'm with Trish - go buy another one!

if it were a couple of weeks past the best before, i'd be tempted to use it, but 8 or 9 years - not gonna happen!

i'd be buying a new one (and cleaning out the pantry big time - it's waaaaaay overdue!!)

I don't want to know what you're doing with tuna mornay from when you would have been about 10

I think that's too far past the use by date for comfort- I wouldn't use it.

    I'd chuck it out also.

I remember a few years ago I found an old cake mix that expired in 1989 and my mum and I made the cake (just to see how it would work out), and it tasted pretty gross and didnt rise.

HEHE Simone. I think the lunch you ended up having would have been much nicer

All old sauce packets are now safely in the bin
