Making a chicken pie - help

I have a craving for chicken pie and the left-overs of a roast chicken in my fridge so I was going to make a chicken and vege pie.
I've never made one before but this is what I was thinking of doing.
Chopping up some carrot and leek and steaming it. Then steam some potatoes. Then mush the potatoes into the chicken juices that are sitting under the chook (I threw the gravy out so I can't use that) and stir through the carrots and leek and also add some frozen peas and corn and salt, pepper and spices. Then shredding the chicken and chucking that in.
Then putting it all in pastry and baking it.

Will the mushy potato be thick enough or should I make a gravy or add some flour?

I guess I could find a recipe but I prefer to experiment lol.

chloe the one i do involves poaching the chicken in mixture of wine, lemon juice stock and water, then using the reduced liquid (about a cup, i half the recipe).
i saute vegies (leek, carrots, mushrooms, peas, celery etc..) in some butter first then add around 1/3 cup for flour cook for a few minutes then add the reduced stock, stir til thickend then add the chicken, for the tops i cheat and make a good creamy mash! easy as pie!!

    ooh thanks.
I'll saute my veges for sure - way more flavoursome than steaming and DH isn't home to complain about me making him fat.
It's only for me and the boys so with the juices I have I might be able to get away without making any extra stock...
If I was smarter I would have saved the gravy - next time....
