    Question Play Doh recipe?

Does anyone have a recipe to make play doh?

I used to have one when I worked in childcare but can't find it anywhere.

DD only has three tubs and they've all dried out so would love to make her some more.

    1 cup plain flour
    1 cup water
    1/2 cup salt
    2 tbsp cream of tartar
    food colouring of your choice

I mix it in a saucepan or if lazy I mix it together with boiling hot water.... then I kneed it out & generally need more flour... I add until I get the right consistency.

Also for better colouring use poster paints rather than food colouring. Its what we did at Paris' kinder and you get awesome colours that way. And for added fun add glitter

Yep our recipe at Kindy is similar to Christy's but they make it 4 times the amount

    4 cups of flour
    2 cups of salt
    1tbsp spoon cream of tartar
    1/2 cup of oil
    4 cups of boiling water
    We used powdered food dye

Then just mix and knead it till everything is blended

    Thanks Kathryn!

How do you guys store it? I think when I worked in day care we just wrapped it in glad wrap? It eventually dried out but then we'd just make some more.

We use 2 litre ice cream containers and put it in the fridge... the only think I hate about home made playdoh is the stink factor!

at kindy/playgroup we use an air tight container. Ours doesn't seem to really smell that bad. I think shop playdough is worse LOL
