    Playdough Recipes?

I want to make a brightly coloured playdough and I was wondering if anyone can share their recipes and about how long the playdough lasts, I want to make it ahead of time and be able to store it for a few days if possible beforehand

    TIA

We make the one on the cream tartar packet & if we store it right it can last around 3 weeks.

Yep, the one on the back of the cream of tartar pack is the best one. I have seriously had the last one I made for over 6 months. Just in the fridge wrapped in gladwrap. I am convinced it will last forever, lol.

Yep we use the cream of tartar recipe too! It's the only one we've ever used and it stores in the fridge in an airtight container for WEEKS!!

I am going to make some more soon and add glitter to it for DD1!! Fun!

I'm sure our one would last longer if the girls didn't stick dirt etc in it.

It uses 1 cup salt, 4 tbs cooking oil & 2 cups plain flour.
Plus water, food colouring & cream of tartar

This is from Robyn Barkers Baby and Toddlers meals... I have put the finger paint recipe in as well if you are interested

    2 cups plain flour
    1 cup salt
    2 tablespoons oil
    a little water
    food colouring

Mix flour and salt together. Add oil and alittl water and knead to form soft dough,
    Too watery? Add more flour
    Too dry? Add more water
Store in airtight container or a plastic bag

    Finger Paint

    1/2 cup cornflour
    2 tablespoons white sugar
    2 cups cold water
    food colouring

Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan. Stir constantly over a low-medium heat until the mixture boils and thickens, allow to cool.
Pour into little containers and add a variety of edible food colouring.

I have been making this one for over 20 years and it lasts forever if kept in an airtight container.

    Mix in a saucepan:
    half cup salt
    1 cup plain flour
    2 tablespoons cream of tartar

    Then add:
    1 cup water
    1 tablespoon oil
    food colouring

Stir together and cook on a medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes until pliable.

Take care when you take it out of the saucepan as it is very hot.

I use the recipe on the cream of tartar box too. But I don't cook it, I put everything in a bowl, boil the kettle and add the water boiling. Mix it up and it's done.

same here. a kinder teacher suggested doing it this way & it works a treat. her advice too was to go easy on the salt & add more if you need it. she reckoned that it was tough to come back from too much salt so better to be too little & add more!

ours lasts for ages - would definitely last for longer if i always remembered to put it away

    2 cups plain flour
    4tbs cream of tartar
    2tbs cooking oil
    1 cup salt
    2 cups water
    Food colouring

Mix ingredients in a saucepan, stir over medium heat for 3-5mins or until mixture congeals.

I normally add the food colouring after it's mixed as i like to split it to make different colours.

I also add a few drops of lavender oil to my playdough mixture at the end and it gives a beautiful fragrance as we're playing with it.

Thankyou all for your responses, I made two double batches and split it to make four colours and have been storing it in zip lock bags, also making it in a bowl was really easy and just adding the boiled water
