    RIP old friend...

I have known and loved you for the past 10 years, you have been there for me with every new and exciting food journey. Through the good times and the bad times you were there. Some of the best sauces have been made with you in hand, and I really am sad that I am going to be doing things from here on without you. Your enamel style design meant you never absorbed a flavour and you could handle the hottest pan with ease. Grinspoon, (as you were affectionately named due to your green colour) I will miss you. You have done me proud over the past 10 years and I will never forget you.

Grinspoon was a green enamel spoon that I used for EVERYTHING! It was my best friend in the kitchen. I was tapping it on the side of the frypan last night as I was frying up onion and garlic for my risotto and it snapped in half I nearly cried! I don't know if I'm ever going to find a spoon as good as grinspoon! It was hard and non flexible, it was flat at the bottom of the spoon which was great for sauces and stirring and scraping. It was quite deep so it was perfect for serving but it was also not too wide either. It really was PERFECT.

I too hope you find a new friend soon Cai

It sucks when one of your fave things goes to a better place. You wonder how you will ever live without it!! I feel your pain as my fave non stick frypan somehow had an accident with a scourer last week *Gives DH the deathstare*

I spent the extra money and bought a Scanpan frypan with the lifetime warranty (it cost $99 from Peter's of Kensington). So no more non stick issues here.

Can't help with the sad loss of Grinspoon though - hope you find another one soon!

Aww, did the spoon break in half or just the handle? If it is just the handle you could glue it back together...

I had a favourite stirring spoon break on me too. It was my mums (I took it from her LOL) and it was about 20yrs old. I haven't been able to find another like it.

    RIP Grinspoon.

RIP Grinspoon. May it have gone to a better place, like the big kitchen in the sky. I hope you receive the tissue I am trying to send to you Cai.

    By the way,
    (sorry )
