    Soup as a main?

I have just made DP the nicest soup.. Pumpkin, onion and potato..

    He just said to me

    Is that the entree?

Im like uh...no Im not going to make 3 meals (Im having spaghetti that he wont eat)

Hes like there is NO MEAT IN IT...

I have some nice crusty bread to go with it

Now I feel because I was really excited for him to have it because it looks so nice

Would you have that only as a main??

Pfft. Soup is so a main. And it doesn't have to have meat in it to make it a main. Tell him if he wants a 3 course meal he can do two courses

I'd say as long as its served with some nice crusty bread then it is a main. Tell him if he wants a main he can have another bowl of soup, oh and dessert is soup as well!

Totally a main. Meat does not make a main meal.

In my house if DH complains then he makes his own.

We often have soup as a main, but always always add lentils or split peas, to thicken it up, make it more hearty and add more protein.
Vegans, man! Always with the lentils.

lol he wouldn't last in this house! We only have meat meals a few times per week....DH protested initially....going hungry is a good incentive though.

yeah, definitely a main, nothing like soup on a Sunday night with some cheese on toast....I made the yummiest cream of cauliflower the other day for main.....the one I do alot of is a chicken, vege and noodle soup (ok it's got meat in)....pumpkin is so filling for a main, yummo.

Kids and I eat soup as a main and only meal all the time, Hubby use to as well until he had his jaw reconstructed and had to live on watered down soupy type meals from a syringe (mouth wired shut) for months on end lol

But I do think thicker pumpkin, potato type soups are more filling as well

We used to have that for dinner most weeks growing up. DH won't he is a real PITA with meals and very much of the opinion that soups not a main.

Yeah I agree, soup is so a main...lol, if having meat in it was what qualified a main in this household, we'd only be having mains maybe three times a week Tofu burgers for us tonight hehe
