    Exclamation Substitute for curry powder?

I usually put some in my chow mein but have just discovered we've run out

What could I use instead? I've got ground mild paprika or ground cumin seeds - would either of these work? The only other thing I can think of is a bit of stock powder??

It can't be too hot because the kids need to eat it.

    HELP!!

Oh yes, I think some ground cumin would work just fine. I often use a combo of ground cumin and ground coriander instead of curry power in things.

Keen's curry powder has Tumeric, Coriander, salt, fenugreek, black pepper, chilli, rice flour, allspice and celery.

I'd go cumin and stock too. My friends mum was telling me how she made curry powder the other day, I think hers had fennel in it too? I still can't believe that curry powder doesn't have curry leaf in it...it just doesn't seem right...

    Awesome, thanks girls!

I have some coriander too so might put a bit of that in as well.

**ETA: Well it smells OK so hopefully it will taste good too! I added some salt and black pepper as well.

Well it was quite nice. Different to how it usually tastes, but still good.

And after all that, DH comes home and tells me there's another thing of curry powder at the back of the pantry
