i miss going to the milk bar and paying like $2 for a massive, massive bag (like a medim sized paper bag) of mixed gummy lollies, bears, fruits and ghost drops.
As a follow on from the thread about small businesses, someone mentioned the old ladies selling lemon curd outside the supermarket. It's something that reminds me of simpler times as a child.
I miss that.
I also miss the apex club and lions club making hot donuts outside the supermarket. Like a bag of 5 for 20c.
I miss cheap mixed lolly bags from the corner deli.
I miss the trailer of free oranges at sports day from a local grower.
Sigh.
What do you miss?
i miss going to the milk bar and paying like $2 for a massive, massive bag (like a medim sized paper bag) of mixed gummy lollies, bears, fruits and ghost drops.
I miss the old fashion jelly babies with the powdery coating!
I miss buying a massive bag of freckles from the school canteen to eat during the day![]()
I miss real chocolate buds. And cheap petrol.
I miss the sugary bit on the end of the big boss cigars. That was the best bit! I wish they'd bring it back, maybe in a different colour so it doesn't look like a lit cigar though lol.
Super cheap but yummy fish and chips,
Lollies from the glass cabinet at the milk bar - 3 for 5 or 10cents,
Mini meat pies at the school canteen on fridays.
Home made fudge from the sunday market
I miss pollywaffles.
I also miss the cherry chocolate Nestle (don't shoot me for mentioning that name) used to make. It had a layer of cherry ripe sandwiched between two layers of chocolate. It was the best!
I miss a huge bag of hot chips for $1:50
And a huge bag of fruit balls or choc buds for 10 cents
Back in the 80's there was an icecream called Double Choc - it had a solid core of chocolate surrounded by chocolate ice cream with chocolate coating on the outside. OMGGGGG they were so good.
Smurf icy poles! Jam doughnut caravans on the side of the road
I miss walking around to the caravan park with my friends and 50c, enough to pay for a swim and a big bag of lollies. We'd spend half a day there, no adult supervision in the pool either....
I also miss the $3.50 lasagne and 50c cream buns from the high school tuck shop! And the little bags of Ovaltines from the primary school tuck shop.
Oh, and the little old ladies selling hand knitted baby clothes, cakes and tea towels on tables outside the local shops!
Vienna chocolate ice cream, it came in a tub, was the best! Wish they'd bring those back!
Decent sherbet. It just doesn't fizz like it used to.
There are little old ladies selling baby clothes around here still
Lolly gobble bliss bombs and those crystal things that you put in your mouth and they popped until eventually they became chewing gum!
My mum LOVES them. She's found somewhere that sells then and has a jar of them on the kitchen bench, her pride and joy!
A big bag of mixed bags of lollies from the milkbar for 50c, spending days in the pool in summer and then going to the milkbar for an icecream or icypole, spending about 20minutes choosing 10 or 15c worth of lollies (and it was 'splurging' to get mates cos they were 2c rather than 1c!).
There were also these yummy bbq flavoured chip sort of things and I've never been able to remember what they were called, they also came in a chicken flavour. They were more like a burger ring consistency.
Just popping in to say that my local Coles stocks both ovaltines and lolly gobble bliss bombs![]()
Yum!
