DH loves pavlova so I'm making him one for his birthday cake in a couple of weeks.
I've found a recipe for a rolled pav with rose cream and strawberry. It calls for sliced unsprayed rose petals.
Where would I find some? I know from watching House that florist/supermarket flowers are bombarded with weird chemicals so I don't think they fit the bill.
I just planted some rose bushes under our windows but unfortunately I don't think that any of them will be in bloom by then.
Also for cooking should one use a fragrant rose or a non-fragrant?
Oooh, you could go to those specialty tea shops and get rose tea which consists of dried buds.....Oh but if you actually want the petals I would probably also suggest a specialty cake shop ?? Hope that helps ?
I've been keeping an eye out Lulu but I haven't seen any. At this time of year they're generally cut right back. The people down the road have an amzing rose garden - when it is in bloom you can smell it all the way up the street but they don't have anything at the moment.
If I see a rose it's not safe from my little scissors lol.
Herbies spices do rose petals chloe..... If there is a deli or something near you with a good range of Herbies' spices you might find them there. Their 'headquarters' are in Darling St Rozelle if you are near there.
