    For Dinner at 6pm tonight

    This arvo;

Peel and cut potatoes & pumpkin and carrots, put in a big bowl of water.
Wash and cut up your vegies (caulie, broklie) put them in water on the stove

Pre heat your oven to a moderate heat (is it fan forced or gas ) ? 150 is moderate at 4.20 PM

At 4.30 put the chicken in a roasting pan with 2.5 cm's of water in the bottom of it . Look at the post above for herbs etc to add to the chicken

At 5.30, take the roast out of the oven, turn the chicken over, add the potatoes and pumpkin (that you have dried off with paper towel) around the chicken

Put back in the oven, at 5.45 turn on the pot/steamer with the coloured vegies in it on slow, add peas and beans to the water if you like

BY 6pm - it will all be happening, have everything ready to go, I always put my vegies on the plate last, as it will take you a minute ot two to cut up the chicken, or get DH to do that, while you out the vegies on the plate

To make a gravy, to keep it easy for your first roast, get a little mixing jug, put the gravox in, add a stock cube, then add water from the stove top vegies

    Yummm enjoy

I ccould give your harder stuff, but keep your first roast easy

If you have bought the oven bag, use it, just follow the instructions on the oven bag, however you can still use my other time instructions.

The bag should make the chicken moist

If you have a slow cooker, just chuck it in there & let it cook itself I can't stand looking at them raw either *shudder*

    Cooking chicken

Wow the post above is very extensive good on you!

I would add one thing though just gives the chicken a little extra kick!

I know you hate the bummy thing but just get a whole lemon and roll it on the bench a bit then stick it right up the bum! haha gross i know but worth it.

If you need any more help go to Jamie Olivers site. He has a video that will show you how to do an awesome chicken. I have included a link to his perfect roast chicken recipe that even tells you how to carve the chicken.

    hope this helps.

Talking Managed to cut the bum off. Yuk. But I did it.

One more question: Do I remove the skin or should I leave it?

I leave it, it tastes yummy and keeps the chicken moist.

Red face How embarrassing. I am asking too many questions.

Should I remove the wings? Or leave it alone?

    Lightbulb

When should I turn the chicken over? 40 minutes into cooking? Someone please give me an idea for a set time.

    Leave the wings.
I don't turn mine over. I don't use oven bags so maybe you have to turn them.
For time I do half an hour at 180 for every half a kilo of chicken so the average chicken takes about and hour and a half. If you poke fattest bit of the thigh and pink juices come out it needs to go back in for a bit longer. Once the juices are clear it's cooked and if there is no juice it's probably over-cooked lol.
