YUK!! Custard Apple

I just bought a fruit from the grocer called a Custard Apple. It sounded like it would be so yummy cause I love custard with stewed apples. It was the most terrible thing I have ever eaten! The texture is what put me off first, but then the flavour and smell came in close behind.

Has anyone ever tried it before?

What do you think about it?

I love them when I manage to get a perfectly ripe one - which is really hard to do.

If the skin was a dark colour or it was very soft it was probably over-ripe and in this case they do taste bad.

oh I love these - I will tear one apart before I've even gotten home after buying one (or "stealing" one from a friend's tree).

I don't like them either - never could quite come at the texture, and the smell. Don't believe it's like custard OR apple.

I love them but they do have to be just right.
