How much do you pay for children's sport?

Cricket is a rip off! The club has just built new nets, that's probably what we're paying for. I sent Dh and DS with $100 expecting to get change but instead they came home with a $60 bill.

It shouldn't be - those things are usually paid for by the council, just like pitch and ground maintenance, pavillions, etc, are all owned by the council, not the club. I would be asking them to explain the hike too!

Not always. It depends on who owns and manages the grounds. But that's besides the point. There are loads of grants available to help sporting clubs pay for these things and they should surely have enough money in the kitty to pay for these sorts of things - any club would be mad to use all their available money to pay for it and then massively increase rego's to help pay for it or rebuild the bank balance.

Swimming was $140 a month for 2 but it's cheaper now because I work there, gymnastics is around $17 a week for an hour plus rego and insurance (quite expensive)

At the moment DD is doing kindergym which is $75 a term.

Previouslly she has done swimming which was $135 a term (we thought we would try something new this term)

Physie is $35 Rego + $2 p/lesson + shoes and leotard about $60

I think full fee's here for kids netball & footy were only $5. But there's a scheme here you can apply for through the shire that covers the costs. Up to a certain amount a year for each child, to play as many sports as they want.

My netball fee's were $90 for the year.

ETA: Limey, WA has a MUCH much better set up than other states! There are no pavilions etc in NSW that I've ever been too. We have a bar, 2 kitchens, indoor netball courts, kids play rooms, play ground! It was always to the pub after games in NSW. Here they do dinner & drinks at the sports ground! I love it!

Pretty sure the footy clubs here would make a fair amount on money compared to over there though. They made enough just out of me this year

Interesting to see how much swim lessons vary in terms of cost.

Our swimming is $144 per month for 2 kids
Dancing for DD is $6.50 per week plus costume hire ($30 a year) and concert tickets ($20 per adult twice a year)
Looking into soccer for DS which will be around $16 a week plus rego

I spoke to a friend of mine whose son plays cricket in another team and their subs were $50, which also includes a shirt.

we just booked both girls into the summer semester program which runs for 11 weeks and it cost us $440

eeek. I need to book the boys in for their holiday program. I wonder if I can squeeze in tennis as well? I prefer tennis because it's drop and run instead of sit in the heat and wait.

Swimming is $170 odd per month for the two of them. Gym $260 for two per term

I really want the girls to start horse riding lessons but the cheapest I can find is $40 per kid for 30 minutes! Seriously kicking myself at times that I chickened out of buying 10 acres further out so then the girls could have had their own ponies and we'd save a fortune - completely overlooking the cost of keeping the little furry money pits of course ;-)

I'm dreading when Miss A is old enough to be joining in all this fun too.

We pay $20 for 30 minutes riding. I assume it goes up when they need better instructors.

I think that's why I chickened out - I remember all too well just how much they cost to keep. I know if the girls got ponies I would want another one too.
