    Never felt so helpless

Yesterday was the most awful day, DS15 was in so much pain and I couldn't do anything for him. He has a chipped tooth wich happened a few weeks ago, been to dentist and next appointment is next week. He woke up in pain, gave him two panadol which didn't help. Went to the chemist and got some "strong pain" tablets, didn't work either. Normally DS is quite good with pain but yesterday he was nearly in tears, I havn't seen him cry in a few years now and it just broke my heart. By this stage he just couldn't stand the pain anymore, he wanted me to take him to the hospital. Was thinking of taking him to GP for some panadeine forte but he wouldn't have been able to sit there waiting for an hour. Went back to chemist got some clove oil and stronger pain relief which finally started to work but then he started vomitting and his bottom lip got really swollen. Booked him in for this afternoon with the dentist. It was just the most awful feeling watching your child in pain and not being able to do anything.

    Regards,
    Dianne

If he needs anything else to take try 2 panafen plus, 2 of them equals 1 panadeine, I took them for my first M/C, although they did nothing for that pain they should hopefully help with his tooth. Poor kid, I hope the dentist can fix it up on the spot so that he's not in pain anymore.

Thanks girls, he's not in pain this morning, his lip is still swollen, there is bruising on the gum where the roots are. I just hope the dentist can save the tooth as it is at the front.

is the tooth its self going grey? that bruise sounds like the roots have gone grey (died) they can save it, but if it has died it will mean a root canal

    oh Dianne,
Your poor son. I have been having toothaches and man they are one of the most painful things i have experienced!!! and they give you side effects such as headaches and lack of appetite.

Hopefully they can save your tooth but there is always tooth veneers if worse comes to worse.

Best wishes to your son today!
