Mary Janes...Clarkes have them and also Lynx I think. I notice this on the train alot when I go into work.
I also see them wearing black ballet flats....this tends to be the Public School girls. The Catholic School Girls wear the Mary Janes ( or T bars). I have seen some where the boots like lace black lace up ones that lace up to the ankle.

Most girls at my high school wore tbars or Mary janes.

Our high school sends hoem the pictures of suitable and non-suitable shoes - makes things so much easier. Basically, they have to be completely closed over (so T-bars and ballet flats are out) and all black. They can wear trainers or leather shoes so long as they cover all the top of the foot. If they don't then they can't take part in the practical lessons and end up in detention.

T-bars all the way! (with the buckle undone...OBVIOUSLY way cooler that way )

T-bars seen to be the standard shoe I see around Melbourne.

I had a pair of pretty chunky ones that I thought were the things then (quite possible weren't cause I was never in the 'in' crowd), however that is 18 years ago now so not alot of help!

Wow. Glad the high school I'm planning for my DD is standard lace up black leather shoes. No joggers, no sandals or ballet shoes etc.

    She's gonna hate it

Yeah we never had all that either - you wore brown lace-up "school" shoes or brown T-Bars, no exceptions.
