What's your child like with late nights? I would let Liebs go, especially as it would be "really" 8pm not 9, and on the arrangement that he goes straight to bed when he gets home, no messing around. But Liebs is often awake until 9pm on a school night (albeit usually in bed) with no real ill effects, he just doesn't need as much sleep as others, and therefore doesn't ever sleep in either.

Nope. My DD1 is 9, and a party finishing at 9 would mean she wouldn't get to bed before 10 after winding down, showering, teeth etc. Too late for a school night!

I'd let them go but pick them up early or take them to school later the next day.

My 10 year old has scouts that finishes at 9. And she's usually in bed at 7:30.

It depends which child. DS1 is a night owl who is often awake reading when I'm ready to go to bed. He would be fine with a late party.
DS2 is usually asleep by 7.30 and he would be tired the next day.

What state are you? It's not school holidays or pupil free day the next day is it?
