i think its bad too maz that they cant spell his name right!!! i know how he feels, i still get my name spelt wrong!!! all the time!! its frustrating!

I know exactly how you feel!!! my eldest dd name is Ami and we are always getting incorrect spelling even her year 11 report one she may use for job interviews etc was spelt wrong so i took it back and they made a new report with correct spelling. DD is always correcting her teachers most listen some ignor her thats when i get involved.

I can understand that it must be hard for teachers to get all those different names right. I mean with names from all corners of the world and then different spellings of common names. I bet it does get confusing at times. So one or two incidences could be forgiven. But what this teacher is doing is just plain strange. I would definitely do something about it. It can't be coincidental. She can't possibly be that daft... or can she...

My DD's name is Maya. Most Australians pronounce it like the month of May with an a at the end. However, we pronounce it like My-a. By the way, there are some famous Maya's out there (like the American poet Maya Angelou) who pronounce their name like we do. Anyway, I usually tell people once when they get it wrong. Some correct me and tell me that I'm pronouncing my own child's name wrong (I guess cause I'm not Aussie, they think I don't know better)... I try and ignore those people. Most people just accept it and pronounce her name the way we do. The only people that can't seem to get it are DH's grandparents. But they are in their mid eighties. So I just make an exception for them.

I can understand how frustrating mis-spelling of names can be!!! DS1 is Zakari (pronounced the conventional way) but we often get it spelled with a c, or a ck, or a ch, or a y at the end (sometimes even an ey!!) I have even had people pronounce it Za-KA-ri (ahem, we don't even look remotely indian!!LOL!)

Now we are having problems with Kaliah - we are getting Karlia, kahlia and other variations! WE are just waiting for future probs with Khaemon and Veygas!!! (we have already had mis-spelling of Khaemon - IL's got him a plaque thing that said "Cameron" with their usual excuse "we didn't know" - well ASK FFS!!) And preschool have already spelled it with an A instead of an O ...

And Veygas's name has been pronounced VEE-gas ... hello. Las Vegas people!!!

Anyway hun, hope you get it all sorted cause it is a HUGE PITA when people don't listen (especially to kids!!)

And I am sitting here shaking my head at people who have been corrected by ignoramuses who think they know better, on how to spell or pronounce theirs or their kids names!!

Apopintment is next week...and Ive told Nikolaus' normal class teacher im not happy and she in tern said ther eis no excuse....we'll see what happens
