Dan, congrats on finally starting. There's no turning back now. Oh theres no laughing allowed either, everyone has to start somewhere.
As for journalling you are only limited by your imagination. You can journal directly onto your page, on cardstock, vellum, transparency's, or even onto your pictures. How you journal is up to you too. You can use a pen or pencil, your computer, rub-ons, stamps, paints and other things of course.
Have fun and experiment.
Happy scrappin.
Take care

I've done 2 more pages already! I have even had a play around with some eyelets. That's good fun!! I will have to get that board off you, Fi.
Trish - well done on getting a page done!! A fair effort with all you have to contend with.
Dan - yay on getting started!! It's not so hard. The good thing is, if you end up not liking what you have done, you can just do a different page! It's not set in stone iykwim??

Hi Girls,
I'm so excited tonight is my beginners class!! I'm going to take photos of my DP I'm in one of those totally in love phases at the moment.....just can't get enough of him (that's not meant to sound mean but you know how it is in long term r/ships lol!) Anyway will let you know how it all goes!! I'll need all the advice I get once I'm on my own I suppose.
Chat soon

Thanks for the tips Trish, I've seen so many different ways in mags, that it makes my mind boggle a bit! I am going to sit down this weekend and finish them off, and see what I can come up with for journalling. :D
Debbie, it wasn't as hard getting started as I thought..now I want to do more and more..LOL!
Jess, good luck with your class, hope you enjoy it. I am thinking about going to a beginners class too to learn a bit more.
It's probably been discussed already, but what is the preferred choice or brand of you 'scrapping experts' of glues? I've been using just one that came with my scrapping kit, and it seems very lumpy, and doesn't seem to stick very well...so off to buy another one!
-
Deb - I'll give you the board when you come around tomorrow! we have to have a scarpping session soon. I've just finished 2 more pages, and I dont like them much. Grr - I journed onto the paper cause there wasn't much space, and I've stuffed it up. It looks messy now, and I'm very disappopinted!! Oh well, another page to do.
Fi
-
Fi, don't you hate it when that happens. I was doing the title for a page yesterday on my puter anyway I had stuffed around with it a few times one plain paper, when I put the cardstock into the printer I wasn't paying too much attention (don't try printing and screaming at kids at the same time) and stuffed it up. Thankfully I had more of the cardstock and was able to use that and the one I printed on was reversable so I flipped it over and used it as my mat for the pic.
Is there anyway that you can maybe cover up your stuff up by putting a tag or something else over it? Maybe make a pocket on the page and put your journalling onto a tag and shove it the pocket?? Hope you girls have a great day when you scrap together. Wish I could join in :)
Take care

Good morning girls. Just found this thread...
I am on three weeks holidays at the moment (currently halfway through second week) and am having a scrapping extravaganza for the rest of the week. I'm scrapbooking my entire wedding album, which is a huge job, because we had approx 400 professional photographs taken. I'm about 100 photos into the pile, and quickly running out of ideas. I'm hoping to finish the album by the time my golden anniversary comes around lol.
Trish - every time I try to use my printer for journaling, the ink bleeds onto the cardstock (worse on vellum, so I don't even try that anymore). Have you figured out any tricks for stopping that happening? Or maybe it's just my medieval printer!
Hope everyone's scrapping is going well...
-
Cherie, before you print go into your printer properties and change the paper type from normal to cardstock - might be under cards. And set your ink to the best setting you have on it. For vellum change your porperties to transparency, vellum takes a long time to dry and will smudge/bleed really easily. You might have to play around with it a few times. Either that or buy a new printer :)
Good luck in finishing off your wedding album. Maybe you coculd look at some online scrapping sites to get some ideas for your pages. It's hard to come up with new ideas all the time. I think they call that scrappers block :)
Take care

Thanks so much Trish - it had never occurred to me to change the printer settings. I'll definitely give that a go.
-
Nope trish - can't cover it up. :(
Oh well - its one of those things I guess, I know better for next time!

OMG girls,
I just had to tell someone who would be as excited as I am!!!!!
One of my LOs has been accepted for print in Scrapbooking Memories!!!!!
I can't believe it!
-
Yaaay, well done! What's it of Tiff?
-
Thanks Sarah,
The theme they asked for was laughter so I sent a LO of my daughter Lily, caught in mid laugh.
-
Do you know what issue or anything, I'd love to check it out.
-
Not yet but I will let you know as soon as I do!!
-
I'm in the process of scrapbooking with photos of Lily. So far i have completed about 5 pages. I got an idea too of making one for a cook book. Might start that soon as i have lots of recipies just lying around with no home. Hopfully it'll turn out as i expect or close to it.
-
that's fantastic Tiff! I love that magazine and can't wait to see yours!
Tegan - sounds like you are going great guns. The recipe book sounds like a great idea and one I am going to do later on.
I went to the Art and Craft fair here in Melbourne yesterday and it was great! Scrapbooking Memories were holding workshops so I went along and learnt heaps. Bought some paper and stuff very cheaply. Not enought scrapping stands but that's probably a good considering I bought something from each of the ones there. 8-[
how is everyone going? Must start my minibook soon!
-
That's excellent, Tiff! Good job.
Tegan - that's a good idea about the cook book!
Nell - LOL, lucky there wasn't more scrapping stalls then - you may have spent a fortune!
I have done a couple more pages but have come to a stand-still once again because I have to get some more photos printed. I don't really want to fill up Gabby's album with pics of her from the first 2 months 8-[
-
LOL at filling up an album with pics only from the first two months Deb!
I dont know where you guys get the time! I was impressed with getting 1 page done LOL!
Ooooh never thought of going to an Art & Craft fair Nell, I must check & see if there's one in Sydney. Trish do you know? And would you be up for an outing ;)
-
Wow - congrats Tiggy. Must have been a beautiful, professional looking LO. Did you have to send the actual page, or a colour photocopy/ditial image? I've always been worried about whether you get it back afterwards 8-[
-
Hi Cherie,
Originally I sent an emailed photo of my LO but now I have had to send it off to the publisher so that they can take their own photos. They promise it will be back within six weeks!
-
Tiggy, congrats on getting published. You must be very proud.
Sarah, yep there is a show coming up in late August I think it is. I think it's out at Rosehill. I will check it out and get back to you on it. I go every year, they are fantastiic, buggar to get the pram around in though. Will gladly meet up with you there if you want.
Take care
Trish

Sounds like a plan! I'll email you....

Hi girls,
How in the world did I not know about this forum!lol
I have read the 1st 3 pages, but it's after 12am and I have to get up for the kids school tomorrow, so i will have to catch up on the other stuff later.
I have just started getting back into scrapping, and am starting to get things organised again. I have about a million photos and I am not joking, with 4 kids and stuff from when I was growing up as well I have my life's work cut out for me. I started on my eldest and did 28 pages which covered the first 3 moths of her life LOL. So you might understand. I guess in some ways I am going for simple but effective so that I actually get things done before i cark it!LOL
Catch up soon.
Cheers michelle

Ok I have read back through all the pages LOL, took awhile but I am up with what's been happening.
Tiff wonderful new for your LO! You must be proud.
We have started getting together at Mum's for scrapping nights on MOnday, (my cousin, Mum and I) and we are going to see if anyone else is interested once we are into it. Mum and I sell scrapbooking stuff on ebay and she has her back room set up as a little shop too, which atm is in one hell of a mess as Dad is renovating LOL adding drawers and things.
We got together twice, but tonight we're not as I wanted to watch Big brother and so did my cousin. And luckily for Mum cos she is sick anyway. I am planning on cropping pics tonight. I worked out a layout for Jordan's first zoo trip and it was going to take 6 pages, and most of the pics are of dopey looking animals in cages, so I changed my mind and now am cropping all the animal pics to use as extrta's rather than as centrepieces. I have punched some as squares, and tonights plan is to cut the ovals and circles.
I use top loading albums, I don't mind the creative mem albums, but can't afford them, plus I like to have all different coloured backgrounds. I don't usually theme an album, just a grp of pics. I like 3d embellishments too. I found when I first started I collected so much stuff and then didn't use it. I still have it but cos I have so much I forget what I do have and later I find things and then think bugger that would have looked good.
Oh well I won't bore you any longer, hope you all are getting some scrapping done this week. If anyone wants to take a look at our ebay stuff PM me and I'll give you the details.
Best wishes michelle
-
Michelle - LOL @ having so much stuff that you forget about it. I can see me heading in that direction! I can't believe you didn't know about this thread either!! LOL
I just found out that my friend also does scrapbooking and she knows someone who does creative memories. She says she has all kinds of bits and pieces so I will hopefully get together with her and do some scrapping at some stage.
-
Yeah Deb I seem to have my sticky nose in most people's business don't I.
Great about the creative mem friend LOL. I love Creative mem custom cutting system. I jhave the circles and ovals, and plan to add to it alongthe way. Except I have misplaced my blades, which is very annoying cos I am sure I put them in a safe place LOL. Doesn't matter I am borrowing mum's till mine appear. I think Jessica picked up the box they were in so I put it out of her reach, where though?
Any psychics out there know where I put them LOL?
Cheers Michelle
-
Don't you just love that?? You put something in a "safe" spot but it's so safe that even you can't find it, LOL.
-
Yaaay I just won a big lot on eBay :D
Forgot to tell you guys - Aaron paid off our credit card with our tax returns, but he left me $200 for scrapbooking stuff. I've got a couple of things of eBay & I'm on a mission today to get these really funky punch sets from Big W today. Then I think that wipes out the $200 but well worth it :D
-
That was nice of Aaron to do that for you Sarah! SO glad you got what you wanted.
I surprised myself last night by getting out the cutters and I cropped the pics which took no time, so I grabbed the pages out, laid everything and before I knew it I had a double spread finished. So I moved onto the next double page but you won't believe it....I ran out of doublesided tape. Man was i annoyed, it was 10.45pm and I wasn't going to Mum's to gwt it so I had to pack up. Damn I almost got 4 pages done!
Got the tape and am planning on some scrapping tonight but I am starting to feel flu like symptoms, which is not good, cos I am the only healthy one here atm. Jordan and Josh came down with it today, and Arron is of course dying from his! AAARGH! I better not be sick when I am about to leave for QLD!
Scrap away girls
Michelle
-
Sarah - woo hoo for Aaron!! What a good boy leaving you some $$ to shop for scrapping stuff. Sounds like you got a bargain on ebay!! Good job.
Michelle - woo hoo for getting so much done but what a bugga that you ran out of tape!!! Hope you don't get too sick...
I bought some more stuff from kmart today. I am building up quite a store of stuff. My problem is that I haven't really got anything visualised in my head. I know that I want to do a couple of pages for my baby shower and a Mummy and Daddy page but I haven't quite got a picture of how I want the layout. I am someone that is more likely to just throw things onto a page and stick it down. A messy, unplanned scrapper, LOL.
I just have to get some more photos processed before I can do more pages. Come on tax cheque!!!
-
Hey Deb, the latest Innovations magazine has a template thingy to give you ideas on where to put things & I'm thinking of buying one.
BTW in all the baby stuff I've bought I've ended up with some girl things - got some eyelets yesterday & they came in a pack of pink & blue. Sooo I'm putting all the girl stuff together & am going to sell it on ebay. I'll let you guys know when I post it in the Buy Swap Sell section.
-
LOL Deb at being an unplanned scrapper, I am pretty much the same.
I am feeling good still, not come down sick yet! FIngers crossed I won't either.
Got the tape yesterday but was too tired last night, and same tonight, which is a bummer cos I was so motivated, Oh well! Not much I can do about that, gotta come on bb!
Cheers Michelle
-
me to i am an unplanned scrapper lol
don't you hate that michelle when you run out of something in the middle of being so inspired, i do it all the time then i find that i can't be bothered for another week or so.
was only thinking before i better get a wriggle on and finish jay's album and at least try and get the photos of lani done, not to mention trying to tackle jessie's album, i have been putting that one off as it will be to hard.
seeing as we are ttc i think i better get at least a little up to date or i will find myself drowning in even more photos.
maybe i will sit down over the weekend, and am going to another workshop in a couple of weeks, the plan is to have jay's album finished by then.
-
Sarah- I have a simialr template you can basically get 8 diff layouts on mine cos they are different depending which way you lay it down. I used it for the first time the other day and I really liked it.
Michelle- it is all very well to keep taking pics, esp with the digi cam but....if I don't start doing something with them then they will be sitting around forever. Tha's why I was so rapt the other day that 1 did almost 4 pages in a night. I have seperated Jordan's bday pics, all 10 of them and also some special event pics, like the Kids day out we took her to. The baby show pics, her wearing Grandad's shoes, her first steps, and I know how many pages I need for them. I was actually starting to get bored just scrapping every pic I had of Jordan, so I skipped to Joshua's kinder yeaar which took 14 pages ( I included memorabilia). I am going to get into it big time once my QLd trip is done, I just need to get started and keep the roll going. If only Arron would finish Jemma's room then I would have my office and I could leave it all out.
Good luck with finishing Jay's album. I can totally understand putting off Jessi's album. Maybe when you get to it it will be a therapeutic thing to do, so it is prob best to keep it till you feel ready.
Cheers Michelle
-
Thanks for the tip, Sarah... I may just have to go out and buy it :)
-
OK now what could be the best thing to offer a fanatical scrapper? Apart from free unlimited supplies that is.
A job at my local scrap shop!!!!!
The girls from my LSS called me on Tuesday and told me they had a propostion for me and that they wanted me to come in and see them. So on Wednesday in I went. The propostion was a job offer. Here I was thinking of all these other things, a job offer was the last thing on my mind. I have taught a few classes there and have helped put in the shop on various occassions but now I'm on the pay roll.
We have to work out the finer details like pay and hours but it's a start. Plus alittle extra cash in the hand will be great.
Take care
Trish
-
Wow Trish that's so great!! You are a lucky thing! Well done! :D
-
Wow that is a dream Trish! Well done and have fun. Now how many jobs can you do that you actually have fun doing?
Cheers Michelle
-
That's excellent, Trish!
Maybe one day I will get my butt up to NSW and you can give me a lesson??!!??
