    Haha, this thread lives on!

The cherry ripe ones are the best, imo. Hands down!

And yes, they are stupid easy to make!

VERDICT: yum!!! The cherry ripe ones are SO good! Next I will be trying peppermint ones, then half and half.

But I have also another idea for a rum alternative.. Baileys balls!!!! How good does that sound lol I'm going to find a recipe & see how that goes too.

Thanks so much OP for sharing this recipe (even if it was a long long time ago)!

Beat up the jaffas with a rolling pin and then pulse it a bit in the blender?

I made several variations - cherry ripe, choc mint(unfortunately aero), Crunchie and Jaffa. Them seem to have gone okay - I've only taste tested the cherry ripe ones so far while DS & DH have tested the mint and Crunchie ones.
The Crunchie ones had a bit of trouble sticking together when I was rolling them and the jaffas nearly killed my food processor. tomorrow will be the test as my sister and her family are getting a selection for christmas.

Thanks ladies! Going to make these tomorrow.

Any one dipped them in chocolate yet? Is it really messy?

Leckert - I make choc mint balls by processing a packet of mint slice biscuits till crumbs, then mixing in 1/2 a tin of condensed milk and 1/2 a cup of desiccated coconut, then roll into balls and roll in more coconut. Simple and yummy!

I just rolled mine in coloured coconut so people could differentiate between flavours. (green = mint; red = cherry ripe; yellow = crunchie; orange = jafffa)

Might try the mint slice option next time- I was just remembering the cherry ripe version while at the shops so just grabbed the aerobars (and nice biscuits & condensed milk) as I wanted a "green" option to balance the red cherry ripes for a Christmas look

Ooh leckert that's what I was thinking to differentiate flavours too (thinking about bringing cherry ripe, mint & baileys) and I wanted to know with the coloured coconut, how did you do it? Do you just buy colouring and can you get that from supermarket? Would be interested to hear how you did it...

I just poured some food colouring into some coconut (used Queen brand coloring from supermarket - near the baking stuff) and mixed until the colour was even and dark enough in the coconut) Darker colour looks better when on the ball, found that out when doing the yellow ones as it didn't look right when on the ball even though I thought the colour was dark enough in the coconut - they looked too light more white than yellow - so added more yellow coloring and it looked much better.

    Hope that makes sense
