    Speaking of hams....

Complete christmas ham newbie here.....I'm used to non-traditional bbqs on Christmas day.

We are responsible for the christmas ham this year, there will be approx. 10 of us eating, but with turkey and steaks and seafood too, so what size would I order? Have I left it too late? I don't even know what kind of $ that would cost?

And what do I need to do to it?

(They were either very brave or very stupid to leave it to us )

I would also go the smallest you can find....although there isn't really that much size variation for Ham on the bone. You can get half legs, which is what you will want.
They will cost roughly $40-70 depending on size etc.

However, ham will keep for a long time in the fridge still on the bone, just soak an old pillowcase in water and vinegar and ring it out, put your ham in and tie the end. You will need to re-wet the pillowcase every couple of days.

I scored one at the christmas raffles last year, this year ordering through DH's work (abittoire)
I'll just be serving it up cold with cold chicken & salads

Generally a half leg ham will be 4-6kg and that should be enough. You can serve it as is with no preparation other than removing the layer of skin & fat.

This year they are around $9-9.50 per kg. You still have plenty of time, we have people rock up at work at 3pm Christmas eve
