What's on your Christmas Day menu?

I'm wondering if I can get to Limeslice's & Rouge's place on the same day.

We were going to skip Christmas this year but now we're going to Mum's and she's doing turkey & roast veggies. We're bringing a salad & dessert. I'm thinking coleslaw & a quinoa salad. I have fruit mince and I'm thinking of making an apple & mince pie with a vanilla cream or custard.

Christmas eve we are going to my uncles place and are having the typical Christmas roast (turkey and all that), but on Christmas day we are just having a quiet one at our place, but are still planning a mini feast

Our Christmas Day will be a BBQ with the following (can't wait as I don't eat seafood often enough!)

Christmas Day Menu

Entree:
* bakery bread rolls w butter
* fresh prawns
* chilli tomato garlic prawns
*" " scallops

Main:
* ginger, chilli & lemongrass fish
* pumpkin, feta & pine nut salad
* creamy mashed potato
* garlic butter asparagus & beans

Desserts:
* Fruit salad w mascarpone & crushed pavlova
* cake (TBA)
* shortbread
* cherry ripe, mint & baileys balls

Haha yeah I know hey kinda got carried away with all the yumminess lol. we are doing it as a sample menu and trialling it for when we host Chrissy next year.

We did xmas last week with my nan from england before she flew back we had:

Starters:
Antipasto platters
Cheese platter
Bread sticks
Baked brie with garlic and lemon thyme
Herb damper
Procuitto wrapped asparagus

Main:
Roast potatoes, carrots and pumpkin
Steamed broccoli
Garlic greens (beans in garlic butter)
Ham
Turkey
Pork

Dessert:
Homemade mince pies and plum pudding
Trifle
and for the kids jelly and ice cream


Tomorrow a small roast with my parents just a few chooks with some pumpkin, potatoes, peas etc

Mains:
3kg vegan turducken (a falafel inside a nut roast inside a tofurkey)
Cashew-creamy potato bake
Roast vegetable and quinoa salad
Leafy green pesto pasta salad
Roast potatoes (yes two potato dishes! )
Lentil gravy
Cranberry sauce

Desserts:
Mint choc ripple cake
Vegan trifle
Christmas pudding and soy custard
Raw banana ice cream
Kahlua balls (rum balls but with Kahlua)

And a bottle of Moet

Choc ripple cake seems to be common. I dont think I've ever had any. Now I'm curious.

What is white christmas?

L&B, choc ripple cake is the bomb!! And so easy to make, just cream and choc ripple bickies, you can add other stuff too, but it's delish!! White christmas is a type of slice with dried fruits, rice bubbles, copha, powdered milk.....I'm not a huge fan, but it's a popular christmas treat, it looks very festive!

Family BBQ lunch
- Prawns
- Marinated lamb
- Spicy chicken kebabs
- Potato salad with mustard & honey dressing
- Green salad
- Sourdough rolls
- Pavlova with red fruits (raspberries, strawberries, redcurrants & pomegranate - very festive!).

Quiet dinner with bro:
- cranberry mocktails
- Asian chicken & herb salad
- cheese plate
- choc-dipped strawberries.

Not too keen on turkey and dont eat pork much (Ham). So, opted for a croatian/serbian type of meal. Normally we do cabbage rolls, but Im not that good at it, so made the filled capsicum with rice and beef mince in a passata tomato sauce, mash potatoes, oven sweet potato and pumpkin, some chicken schnitzels. Desert was honey biscuits, white xmas and made choc ripple log (first time), hubby loved the log. very easy to make. TBH, I dont like xmas food very much. DH was happy with the european 'fare' as he is south american and loves our food.
