URGENT!!! What else do/can I do???

DD is nearly 10 months old.
Took her swimming this morning and sincecoming home she has slept quite a bit and when awake VERY lethargic. My thought was maybe she swallowed water but i didn't notice this.
Shes been spewed now 4 times and they were MASSIVe....in her eyes, hair all over her and me.
    Temp is 37.4
She won't take water but has so far kept down 10mls of hydralyte....
Shes VERY pale and VERY lethargic and very very grizzly and when shes crying its a pain cry.

My question....should i stick around home and just keep an eye on her and continue with panadol and hydralyte???? At what point should i consider taking her to the hospital if need be?????

If it were me, I'd take her now. Always better to be safe than sorry.

    Hope she's feeling better soon.

What's your "gut" feeling? Maybe give your GP a call, talk to the a/hours service. Personally, that's what I'd be doing (specially as I can count the number of times Pip has vomited on one hand)

I'd be inclined to ring the hossy and ask. It would be the lethargy which would concern me. I don't think it would hurt to ring and ask.

    Hope she is better soon.

Given that she is very lethargic I would definitely take her to hospital now.

Better to be safe then sorry.

    Hope all goes ok!

I would take her to emergency. Don't ever feel like it's not "urgent" enough. They will quickly assess her straight away and if it's not deemed urgent you will have to wait around a bit but they will t least monitor her and you'll be in the right place if she gets worse.

Hugs I hope she recovers asap. I was in emergency last night for DS!

Yes, take her to the hospital especially if she is still being sick.
You also have to be careful that she doesn't become dehydrated.
If you cannot give nurse on call a ring, they are really helpful.

My DD got gastro from the local swimming pool. EXACT same symptoms as what you are describing. I took her to the hostpital and they monitored her. Basically just watched her, didn't really do anything.

They told me 10mls of plain water every 10 minutes. You can also dilute it (half/half) with a bit of apple juice for some sugar if you are comfortable doing that.

But if you have a syringe (like that comes with panadol), it's 10mls every 10 minutes. That's all we did at the hospital.

Reminds me of DD two months ago when she had RSV (bronchiolitis) - in addition though her breathing was fast and shallow.

I'd give her a dosage of nurofen or panadol and take her to the emergency ward - better to be safe than sorry.

    Good luck!

I hope everything is ok. Her being so lethargic would have me worried.
I took my DS for that reason before chrissy & he was admitted for 2 nights for dehydration.

Oh I didn't see this post earlier.

Please take her to the hospital. I saw a thing on telly once about a child who inhaled a bit of water and got very sick indeed. Better to be safe than sorry.

Please let us know how you get on. xxx

I thought of the same thing as Marydean. Secondary or dry drowning. Sorry, don't want to scare.. but I'd be going to the hospital.

    Hope all is ok *hugs*

We are just back from hossy with a viral infection in the throat. Also VERY swollen gums. Dr gave hydralyte for the whole time in which she took every last drop (note to self...get apple/b-currant flavour..) as well as a local anesthic to relieve pain in throat and mouth.

Seems i'll be in for a long night keeping fluids up all night. had the choice to come home and do it or stay....come home for sure!

    Thanks for you support girls

The blackcurrant flavour hydralyte icy poles rock out too. Sometimes easier to keep down than the solution. Good luck - I hope she's better soon!
