Have not heard anything, although it wouldn't surprise me. I have some Tupperware in my cupboard that has come from overseas, but that is really old stuff like what Mum had given me when I first moved out. Nothing from Kuala Lumpur though LOL
I've heard a rumour that there is often counterfeit tupperware on ebay - and to be wary of sellers who sell loads of tupperware or stuff from overseas, now over the years I have brought a load of tupperware off ebay, including some that came from Kuala Lumpur and it has always been the genuine article - I cannot tell the difference between the stuff from OS and the stuff I have brought at parties. Apparently you don't know it's dodgy till you make a warranty claim under the lifetime guarantee. Is this just an urban myth? has anyone else heard this?

I've not heard of it.....maybe try snopes and see if anything comes up....I have bought from ebay before but mainly from the US........haven't been game to try the Hong Kong, KL sellers.....
I havent heard of it either.
Tupperware is manufactured all over the world though so it could come from anywhere.
Lots of people who sell tupperware on ebay are ex-demonstrators or ex distributers.
I've bought heaps of Tupperware on eBay, and i *think* its real... it says Tupperware anyway? And looks like the stuff I've bought IRL... I have no answers but interested to see what is said as I buy heaps too, I like to get the US stuff lol
I have heard of this, and fake Nutrimetics on Ebay too. It was a Nutrimetics sales manager who told me, apparentley they had an email go out about it to their staff. Personally, I have a conspiracy theory- it's the Tupperware/Nutrimetics management (from memory, they are the same company) who are starting the rumour, because their consultants are technically not allowed to sell through Ebay, so they want to discourage people from buying it.I love a good conspiracy theory.
On the Nutrimetics side of things - there has been no email about "fake" Nutrimetics in the last 6 month, just one about an update to the terms with regards to advertising on the internet. I know there has been issues with used/open products being sold on Ebay and that is it part of the agreement to not sell on sites like Ebay.
I haven't heard that there is fake Tupperware out there but have heard that the Tupperware guarantee won't cover items not available in Australia. Does anyone know if that is true? I buy Tupperware from the USA sometimes.
I will buy into that theory Lori! LOL - I love a good conspiracy too
Hmmm it's interesting that this has come about - maybe it is just one of those urban myths? I haven't tried to get a warranty exchange done though, as I have never had any wear out to need it. I like to get the OS stuff too - I got some rock n serve yesterday in the mail from Malaysia and they were clear bases with a pretty raspberry coloured lid and comparing them to the stuff I got at a party you cannot tell that one could be dodgy. I will check out snopes and truth or fiction though...
Well myth BUSTED LOL - nothing at all on snopes or truth or fiction - but did find out that most of that butter v marg scare campaing is fiction though LOL

LOL Trillian, so i guess they don't make Tupperware out of margarine?
YAY! Now i can go buy the bowls i was dreaming about last night! (Seriously, I woke up and trawled eBay at 6am because i dreamt about Tupperware PMSL!)
PMSL! Thats something I would do
Tinkerbell - there are some products that arent covered by the life time warranty...cant remember exactly now, but I think the rock n serves? And some that aren't freezer safe...
But thats all and they are quite up front when you buy them
I brought a heap, and I mean a HEAP (5 boxes) of tupperware from malaysia on Ebay, cost me quite a few hundred $ (read $700) but to buy here times that by 3 ....
The lid cracked on one of my bowls, I just contacted my tupperware dealer closest to me and they fixed it. So that one seller was real![]()
rock 'n' serves are freezer safeYou put you left overs in freeze them and re-heat when you want
Mum has had some of her overseas t/ware replaced too, but she never got it off ebay. It was from parties many moons ago![]()
My mum used to get broken tupperware from an op shop and get it replaced LOL!
Okay, now I'm a dealer and have never heard of 'fake' Tupperware. That being said, I have seen people on ebay put Tupperware in the title and description when its not. They say Tupperware-like or something else dodgy. I am going to pop my manager a message now though to double check what she knows and will get back to you.
Tupperware has a lifetime guaruntee (always spell that wrong, think I'd get it right eventually) on ALL plastic products. They have a 30day Q warranty on metal components however, ie knives will be replaced if plastic cracks but not if blade rusts etc. They also do not replace ANYTHING if there is an obvious user error or damage caused to it ie dropping or melting it. All you can do is check with your dealer and see what they can do.
They can't however carry EVERY possible item ever sold and they NEVER guaruntee (see that damn word again) colour. If a product needs replacing but they do not have the same item then they will credit you back for the products so that you can by whatever you like instead.
So in my message I will ask about 'fake' tupperware as well as replacing overseas brought stuff.
Oh and Tupperware and Nutrimetics (as well as others inc Sara Lee) are all owned by the same company.
I've had a reply back and my manager told me that all Tupperware is branded and shes never heard of 'fake' stuff. She also gave me a lecture on selling tupperware on ebay.
She said that in relation to getting overseas items replaced. It is up to the dealer to contact their head office to see if its available in Australia.
So in the end...not much help really lol. Just a case of buyer beware...![]()
