    flu

We have a terrible flu here at the moment. DD2 is on day 5 of temp, cough, runny nose etc. DD1 on day 3. I am just wondering if anyone else has had something similar and how long it lasted, especially in a toddler. Also Im so worried about DS getting it. Has anyone's bub had flu this winter?
I am literally up all night with them, the only time the temp goes down is with neurofen and I hate giving it to them. I am anxious and worried. (am off to Doc AGAIN today, took DD2 on sat who gave her antibiotics for ear but I dont think it was that at all).
    thanks xo

OMG YES! We have just come out of a flu/virus here (after about 8 weeks of sniffles and snot). DD1 is 3 and it seriously knocked her flat for about 5 days. She had high temp for about 4 days - I found that panadol worked better than the nurofen on her for this. She is exhausted and hasn't eaten properly for that time. She has been napping during the day for the first time in a year. We've also been weekly regulars at the Dr for the last 3 months - DH should just send his pay there!
Good news is that after about 7 days we have had 2 great nights with DD1 - she is still tired but on the improve, just keeping things really low key.
DD2 is 8 months and has had cold after cold, last week it was bronchiolitis which she had some AB's for. She has a really runny nose and waxy ear but seems to have avoided the temps of DD1 - although perhaps it is just the incubation period.
I posted a week or so ago for suggestions about getting healthy as getting me down as I was seriously sleep deprived after months of sickness - BUT from most of my friends it does seem that there are heaps of yucky germs around this winter.
Hang in there - I hope things improve for you soon!

If it is the flu, I would have anticiapted they would give you tamiflu considering the age og your youngest. With tamiflu, the worst of the symptoms are gone within 48 hours. Other than that, do what you can to make them comfortable. Panadol and neurophen together will give a longer and better relief. Panadol works better for fevers than neurophen. I hope they improve quickly.

DD (15mths) got the flu on Friday and yup, doc gave her tamiflu and she was ALOT better after 2 days.

Her temp went to 41 degrees and she refused to sleep lying down. I had to hold her to sleep.

Felt so sorry for her. Went to the docs and she vomitted all over the doc's office.

Hope you children get well soon.
