    Spotting worries... anyone help?

    Hi,

I recently found out that I'm in the early stages of my (longed for) first pregnancy. Sorry to launch right in with my first post and start being all needy but ever since the day after I confirmed the pregnancy (just over a week ago) I've been experiencing varying levels of spotting and it is completely freaking me out.

I've been to the doctor, who said it's pretty normal and nothing to get to uptight about as long as there's no pain (which there isn't). Most of what I've seen about it on the web says the same thing. But this is my first pregnancy, and I can't help being worried. It doesn't seem normal, no matter how many times I read that it is.

I'd really love to hear from anyone who's been through this. I'm in my seventh week now, and I really need to know if I can expect this to stop soon or if I should be worried - because I am.

    Thanks

It's easy to say try not to stress too much, but I understand that it's not easy for you to just relax!

Spotting can be quite normal I had a bleed with DS#1 that was as heavy as my normal period (which are heavy) and he's 17yrs old now.

I only had the one big bleed for a week then nothing, but everyones different so it's hard to predict when it will stop for you.

Sorry i don't have a magic answer to make you feel better right away but hope that knowing it's not completely uncommon has helped a little.

    Hang in there

I had spotting too on and off for weeks and I am now 31 weeks pregnant! Ask your Doc for a referral for an ultrasound, that may ease your anxiety. I saw my bub for the first time at 7 weeks! Gluck xox

I had multiple bleeds with my DD who is now 10mths old, one around 6wks which scared the hell out of me, one i think around 10-11 wks and one a little later in the pregnancy.
They say the one around 6wks can be from the egg etc implanting in your uterus and so on, the others they told me may have been caused by pressure during intercourse.
I was FREAKING to say the least.

#2 is on teh way now, am 18wks and so far (touch wood) no bleeds this time round.

I was told if the blood is brownish and no pain then try not to worry it's if you get pain or the blood dramatically changes color and becomes 'fresher' that you should get double checked.

Hope this helps, good luck i'm sure it will all be fine.

Thanks so much ladies, it really helps to hear from people who have been through the same thing with no major disasters. The bleeding is certainly not heavy or 'fresh', but as a paranoid first timer I couldn't help being concerned. A little less concerned now though, thanks to y'all

ScaryPinkFairy, I haven't been to the OB yet, but I think I'm due late March / early April. Will join the group anyways, I guess I can always switch if it turns out I'm due a bit later!

HI Bambina, you are in my bellybuddy group...

I have the same problem. I have had varying amounts of spotting everyday for the past 7 days. I had my scan yesterday which said everything was fine, the little heart was beating and all. BUT, i am still spotting. I can't help but worry, and i am getting really frustrated with it! I want to relax and enjoy the pregnancy but i can't! I wish it would stop!!!! I guess it's normal for some pregnancies...

Are you having a scan any time soon?

Hi Con, lovely to meet you

It's a bit scary, isn't it? Especially when there's really nothing you can do to make it stop, except wait and hope. I feel exactly the same as you, the constant worry is really stopping me from fully enjoying what should be such a happy time.I have my first appointment with the obstetrician at the end of the month, so I guess my scan will be arranged then. At least 3 weeks away, I suppose... I'm looking forward to it, at least that will give me some small measure of reassurance.

Daydream Believer - I am rhesus neg too, and my husband is positive, but the doctor told me it was not likely to be an issue in my first pregancy, only subsequent ones. I will ask my OB about it just to be sure it's not a problem.

    It is scary .
Sadly all of us are different and bleeding is something very common in early preg that doesn't have a defining timeframe.
I've had 3 pregnancies and bled with 2.
Sadly baby #2 wasn't to be, but Nate faught through bleeding up until 25weeks. He's happy and healthy at 5 months now.
Make sure you aren't doing anything strenuous and getting heaps of rest.
    again.

I too had spotting with DD, I only had it in week 14. I worked out my reason for spotting. I was going to the toliet to do number two's incorrectly. No one every tells you so sit forward and not to push otherwise it can cause bleeding.

If you have Constipation try benefilber. That solved it for me..

Sorry I couldnt have been more help..
