em ... i was only at my new Dentist last Tues asking about teeth whitening (though she didn't think i needed it but i can't help myself i'm a teeth fanatic, LOL) ... and she said the guards that they need to have make from a mould cost the most about $650 and the tubes of whitener about $40. The guard you wear each night filled with whitening gel for about 7 nights. She mentioned if the whitener doesn't whiten my teeth brighter as it is possible (but rare) she said the next tube of whitener they can especially order in a stronger one She said the whitening can last between 1 to 2 years (depending on if you drink coffee, smoke, etc ...)

Told her i can't afford$$$ it now ... and she said she doesn't know of any chemist one's she can recommend but having said that she did add that a friend of hers (i'm hoping they are a Dentist??) recommended the COLGATE teeth whitener that looks like a nailpolish bottle as she described and you paint it on (keeping in mind she herself doesn't know of it's success BUT that her friend said it worked)

I saw a teeth whitening booth at a shopping centre last week. From memory it was around $75 and they did it on the spot. I have no other info on it though, I didn't have time to stop there.

Careful, there was an article in the paper recently about the dangers of these places springing up everywhere in the effort to make a quick buck. I think I'd rather have a qualified dentist do it, than some 12 year old with a bottle of bleach attacking my chompers...

    Tried bi carb?

I forgot to mention i tried the * Pearl * brand years ago yep didn't do a thing.

Like Lulu said i too would much prefer to have done at the Dentist (but can't afford any time soon) !!

I did have a go at whitening my teeth at my Dentist in Melb about 15 years ago when the guard cost me about $350 then & interesting enough the tube of whitener was dearer at $50. I wore it for 7 days & found my teeth were incredibly sensitive when drinking or eating. And cause it didn't make a difference the Dentist said some people's teeth don't take to it so therefore don't whiten anymore ... so i must have thrown the guard out ages ago as i can't find it (must have since it didn't work for me). Now my new Dentist said what a shame i don't still have it as they are so costly now. She just mentioned that to me about half a dozen times and i just wanted to cry, ahhhhh

I might give the Colgate one she mentioned a go but she warned me it's not always as successful and doesn't last as long

I currently have the mouthguard one with the gel from my dentist it was $450 for 3 tubes full that u put a tiny bit on the guard then sleep with it on it works really really well! Though only downfull my teeth were a lil sensitive after so use sensodyne before you start it

    Question

Miss K ... did you have to have a mould done of your teeth so they could make the teeth guard that you put the whitening gel in ?? ... Was curious if yours was a different technique ... Thanks

Em ... i have an awful feeling we are gonna be outta luck ... as i just Googled then even went on to the Colgate website and there was nothing like my Dentist described as she 100% said it was Colgate & was told it looked like a nailpolish bottle whereas you paint it on & she also mentioned it is about $25. Maybe she is telling me ' old ' news and MAYBE it's a thing of the past ??? ... But she really stressed to me that it was Colgate and no other brand

Let you know if i find anything or any info in regards to it

Alicia ... thanks heaps for the tip as i only just read about it a few moments ago on an American website
