Unhappy thoracic back, ribs and sternal pain

I thought this pain was due to breastfeeding initially but I stopped BF ages ago and it`s now nearly a year since the pain started- after giving birth I think. I cant pin point a point of injury but who knows it could have been due to a trauma. It hurts the most when I turn over in bed and when i get out of breath after walking briskly or running. Even the doctors are baffled.Does anyone have any experience of this?

maybe try seeing an osteo and get your spine/pelvis checked, you could be out of line from the birth etc... hope your bette soon!

I have gotten that sort of pain with stress, like an anxiety pain. I went to my GP to say I had chest pain that was sore when I breathed deeply or changed positions in bed and he went straight to anxiety related syncopathic (?) pain... maybe sympathetic pain....

    Thanks for your suggestions.....

I`ve been having some tests done by the gp and it turns out that my back is older than I feel. I was always certain it was physiological since the pain gets worse and worse over time. The weight I put on during pregnancy was probably the straw that broke the camel`s back.I`m considering Bowen or osteopathy and looking for a place that does pilates method(the kind with gym equipment and personal instructors).

Hi Mamasmurf, have you heard of Clinical Pilates? It's a form of pilates especially designed for people with spinal pain, and taught by physiotherapists. That might cover both bases for you. There are a lot of places around now that offer Clinical Pilates (with all the equipment etc), not sure where you are.
