Exclamation URGENT How to help toddler adjust to moving

I'm just wondering what I can do to help make moving house less stressful on my 17 month old?
We are moving tomorrow, and over the next couple of days.

Set her room up first. Get her to help and talk about the great new house you have - say goodbye to the old house.

Shes pretty young so will probably just take it in her stride. We have moved a couple of times and my kids have always handled it well. We made a deal about the new bedroom etc, but not too much fuss IYKWIM. Also have plenty of food and drink available for her and toys to play with.
    Good Luck with the move

milo was 3 when we moved, and i had the same concerns. The thing we did was to make sure his bed/doona.toys etc or at least some of them were unpacked right away so that his room was had some semblance of normal - that way there was somehting familar in amongst all the change

I've already told DH that we should get her room set up first, as she's being looked after in the morning tomorrow and I want her room ready for when she comes back in the afternoon.
She is (hopefully) moving into a big bed at around the same time, but we'll set up her cot and a big bed in her room until she's used to the big bed.

Yep do exactly that Get her involved unpacking all of her stuff too!

We had an issue with DS1 getting lost in the passage on the first night in the new place but he was fine after that!

We moved when DS was about the same age & he was just fine. He was actually more excited as it was all new to explore & bigger....he loved it. The main thing we did as everyone has mentioned, was to set his room up first. I ensured his cot was up, speacial blanket ready, dummies etc & usual music playing. Also made sure we were organised enough to keep his night routine on track that evening & it all went fine.

TBH I haven't found it an issue with Darcy. We've moved twice in her 3 years and she's been great.
Both times we've had her looked after, but as long as her things are there then generally she's happy. Eating takeaway on the floor and camping out is fun when you're little so she felt it more of a game than enything.
