Smile I think this is the beginning of the end

I think DS is slowly starting to wean.

He's pretty much stopped his night time feed before bed. He might have a sip or two, but then will roll around til he's asleep.

He likes to hold a bottle of milk while feeding, & will swap between the two.

He's starting to put himself to sleep on occasion with the bottle.

He's treating boob more like its a special treat, lol. He comes up, has a quick drink (if that) then kinda kisses it, says 'mmm, aah' & wonders off again.

He is back to feeding once over night. Had stopped that & he was sleeping through til DH went away from work, but hopefully that'll stop again soon. Once the change sinks in.

He still loves his boob, & refuses to admit that its mine. But I'm starting to see it. It might take another 6 months or more, but it has started.

I'm finally not terrified of it. I was so scared to stop feeding him, as my PND had me believing that once that was over, there was no need for me any more. I think I'm finally past all that.

I'll be sad when its over, but I'll be happy at the same time

I know its still a fair way off, but I'm ready! Whenever he's ready, I'm ready

I think I've come a long way after the problems feeding my girls, my problems in the first 6 weeks with him, my persistance, my refusing to give up purely out of guilt & to prove to myself that I can do this!

    I think I'm ready, lol!

I thought I replied to this but obviously I hadn't so

aren't our boys growing up glad you are at peace and it is good to know your patience is paying off. It is sad but happy moment isn't it?!

It is! I'm really ok with it at the moment. I was always kinda worried he'd still be on it at 5 & feeding non stop through the day & night, lol.
I am so happy he's doing this all by himself. I saw a friend weaning her DS a few weeks ago at 16 months, & there's no way I could've done that.

    Thanks girls

I still think these boys of ours are growing up way too fast, but they are all getting spunkier & smarter every day, lol!

eg...mine has learnt where the loo is & insists on showing me where to go every time, then stands there over it going 'weeee' while I'm busting behind him, lol! Then throw's a tanty when I move him to go, lol.
Oh then points out my 'eeew, yuck'! (3 guesses what he's pointing at )

Well done on bfing him for so long! Having read your post though, I can't help remembering when my 18 mth old cut back to 2 bfs and then would start missing the odd one on holidays a few months later and that was two years ago. We're still on one a day!

Lol, I am expecting it to be a pretty long drawn out process, but I can see the end is coming. I can leave him without worrying he'll scream the house down with out me, lol.

It is great when you see them confident in their own independence. And that remember is partly because he knows his Mummy has always been there to provide comfort (including on the breast ) when he's needed it.

It's lovely having some time to yourself when your 'baby' is the one who's happy to wave goodbye!
