Need input from Melbourne Hairdressers in the KNOW!
It has been a childhood dream of mine to have curly hair...(child of the 80s here...) (this is where hairdressers usually cut me off and say "i won't do that to your hair" ...their reaction always scared me out of it)
I'm after not a perm but a bodywave
can anyone tell me if there are stylists that specialise in bodywave? (larger curl bodywave...like you get from those medium/large size pink foam curlers) i figure that the ones who turn me out the door are ones who aren't comfortable with doing it?
my hair is not dyed, about shoulderblade length (still growing it til i can afford the style- in which case my hair will be about waist length! hehe)
how long do bodywaves normally last?
how do I ask a hairdresser (as i don't have the proper 'vocabulary') about what I want? ie. Perm is not the word to use...i take it bodywave is?...i just want nice curls that i don't have to work really hard to get or maintain!
call rokk ebony in glen waverly...i know of a girl who had one done there- looks like big flowing volumised curls....awesome!
i know there is a great stylist there named Jess- not sure if she did the bodywave, but it could be worth a try?
sorry baby q, she is a friend of a friend so i'm not sure of the details, just know she looks hot! lol
why don't you give them a call and ask for a quote?
i'd be interested to know what they say as i've considered doing this to my hair too.....
Even Layers in Mooroolbark does them. Give Joe a call and his prices a pretty good.
Took DD2 there kicking & screaming, well not quite, and she loves what he has done to her hair. He does tips instead of foils which look great on her and it's stopped her playing with all sorts of colours.
Yeh your so right, curly hair or rather perms were the rage here in Australia in the Summer of 1980 ... i remember it well as i had my 1st hairdresser haircut whom layed my golden blonde wavy hair which turned into amazing curls ... when i got home Mum flipped as she thought i got a perm, LOL ... I was the ' in ' girl when i started school that Summer as everyone though i had a fashionable perm
Smiles I loved your hair! Would definitely take you up on that offer! hehehe yea i think i lived my teenage years in the wrong decade!
Thanks so much for that lovely boost to my ego as well! hehe...oh i've been meaning to ask you something...maybe i'll go find the recipe thread and post there...
