Anterior Placenta & Baby movement - Help Please

    Hi,
I am hoping soeone can help me with my queries...
At my recent scan I was told I have an anterior placenta and that i won't feel my baby move until about 25 weeks.
I was also told that DH & our kids won't be able to feel it move until quite late at about 30 / 32 weeks.
I am feeling a little worried about this.
I have also been told that my placenta might ( only might ) go low and become Placenta Preveia ( ?) .
I am having a CS anyhow I don't have the option.

Can anyone tell me there experiences with baby movement and their anterior placenta...
    Thanks...
    Em

    Congrates on your pregnancy.

I had an anterior placenta with my last pregnancy and feeling movements was delayed. I did feel some movement aroun 20wks but I didn't feel strong movements until 24weeks plus. My DH didn't see/feel movement until I was around 35 weeks. My placenta was always high so I didn't have to worry about a low lying placenta. My bub was prosterior for most of the pregnancy which made her birth a little more ouchy and longer then my other labours. Goodluck

I had an anterior placenta with DS1 - it is nothing to worry about at all - a large percentage of placentas are anterior and it is of no risk or issue at all. the placenta just masks the feeling of movements and bub is hitting into the placenta... so you cant feel as much. so dont be worried if the mvts are lighter feeling and you dont feel them til later.
I dont know re the low laying placenta - i didnt have this but it is not related to anterior placenta as far as i know. i am sure others will have info as this is also reasonably common.
    Enjoy your pregnancy!

I have an anterior placenta and started feeling kicks at 17 weeks, by 20 weeks they were full on and quite painful even! I am quite petite though so perhaps that's why I felt them earlier than we were told we might... Hubby felt him from the outside around 19 weeks I think

I know of lots of girls with and without anterior placentas that haven't felt a thing until around 25 weeks, I think everyone is different, try to relax about it, lots of people have anterior placentas, they are quite common and usually there aren't any problems, of course we have to be informed of the possibilities of complications that COULD occur but I think this is just a precaution so you're aware and every anterior placenta I have heard of bar one haven't had any problems.. The one friend who did have dramas had low lying placenta and had a healthy baby boy via C/S so it's a happy story after all... Try not to stress but do your research, be informed and keep in touch with your Dr, I'm sure there's nothing to be worried about, the great majority of anterior placentas turn out just fine, but just like anything, get your knowledge about you, try ot relax and take it as it comes

    By the way, CONGRATULATIONS!! :

I have an anterior placenta too, I started feeling movements at about 17weeks and DH has been able to feel them since about 20/21weeks.
One thing I have noticed is I seem to get kicked like almost in the bum sometimes don't remember that with DS1&2.

Congratulations and hope you have a happy healthy pg

I had an anterior placenta (but not low) and even though it was my first pregnancy both me and DH felt the baby kicking quite obviously at about 18 weeks.

I have had an anterior placenta with both my DD and this pregnancy.

With my DD's pregnancy I felt the first movements at about 22 weeks and DH felt them at about 24 weeks. I never felt her kick as such, I felt headbutts in the ribs, bum shuffles down low and lots of hiccups.

This pregnancy I was a little disappointed to find out that I had an anterior placenta again as I really wanted to feel my baby kick, however it has been so different. I felt the first kicks at about 17 weeks and they progessed so fast, she is such an active baby and I feel her move alot and real kicks to! DH was able to feel the first kicks at about 21 weeks, possibly earlier if he was patient enough to sit and wait .

I hope that you are able to feel your babies kick nice and strong, it really does differ from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy.

My placenta was anterior with DD as well & I felt movement at around 19 weeks. I acutally had my ultrasound in the morning, was told it was anterior then felt movement that night!! Funnily enough DH felt the kick at the same time I did, he just happened to have his hand on my belly at the time

I had an anterior placenta too, I started feeling flutters around 22-23 weeks, but they quite quickly developed into kicking & pushing by around 25-26 as he got bigger & stronger, which was when DH could feel them too. I used to play games with him when he was active, pushing in places to see if I could get a reaction.

    Thanks ladies,
I feel a little more positive than beofre. I googled ( yes now I kow never ever google anything to do with a medical condition ! ).
I was more concerned about the previa aspect. As i am having a CS anyhow i think it should be ok.
My ob said I will have little one about 2 - 4 weeks early anyhow so this also eases my mind.

    Hi guys,

I just found out I have an anterior placenta with this pregnancy and was basically told everything by my doctor that you guys have already mentioned. I was a little disappointed at first that I possibly won't be able to feel movement as early as my first, more so for my husband as it is his first baby. But I'm just happy everything is healthy and normal

    Hiya
I have had an anterior placenta with all three pregnancies and felt all babies moving around 19wks - then DH can see and feel bubs moving around 24-25wks. I think the only difference from what I have been told by people with posterior placenta is that the movement is in different places - sort of really low or really high, rather than around the belly button.

Hope that makes sense - having an anterior placenta does not indicate a low lying placenta. My sister had a posterior low lying placenta.

    Take care and congrats.
    Tess.

I have an anterior placenta and I started feeling around 17 weeks one day and not for a few days later, and then by 19 weeks I was feeling something most days.

I am now 23 weeks and can feel heaps and heaps. DH has felt bubs move quite alot and last week I was on the couch watching my belly move, week before the baby kicked in the bath and moved the water!

I think it may delay things but not by much? I must say though that I do feel/see most movements on my left side so perhaps the placenta is a little to the right?

    Hi everyone.
Thankyou so much for the replies and support.

I have started to feel little one move the other bnight I sat forward and felt this massive whack inside me. ( I must admit I was most probably squashing it!! ) I had another scan yesterday and the placenta is still anterior and low almost previa but I am having a caeseraen anyhow so it will pose no risk.

I generally feel little one when I am relaxing at night on the couch the movements are getting stronger and today at work i felt it for the first time ( again sitting at my desk)

Will keep you all informed ....
    Thanks again,
    Em

I have an anterior placenta this time around - I am now just over 24 weeks pregnant and while I do feel movements daily, they are not nearly as strong or as often as what they were with DS - And my placenta was posterior with him. DP also cannot feel them on the outside yet either.
