Ok, so our situation today is that DD was not well last night. I'm not sure what it was but she woke 3 times last night crying. The last time she woke, I think she had a fever. She felt sweaty and hot, but I'm not sure if it was definately a fever or she was just hot, it was a warm night. But I gave her nurofen and she slept soundly til almost 7am. She has had a cough for the last few days and a snotty nose. I remember thinking last night when putting her to bed that her cough was sounding a little wheezy. And she was a bit miserable yesterday evening. This morning she is still coughing but not wheezy. She seems fine now, but I only gave her nurofen at 4am, so it would still be working. She's been playing with DS and doing her normal stuff, she seems fine.
I have to go to work today, only for 3hrs, but she will be in childcare for 4hrs. I don't know if I should go to work and risk her feeling bad again, or go and play it by ear. Do you think I should take her to the Dr and keep her home in case she really is sick, or is it just a cold??
personally here, DD is like that allot lately. As long as she has a clear nose and shes still playing hapilly i still send her. I just say to daycare to give me a call if she starts to go down hill again.
You might find once there with all the other kids, she'll be fine for a while.
HTH. xx
I'm still not sure what to do, but I have to decide SOON! I'm thinking of erring on the side of caution. DD is starting to get sooky she's coughing more and her nose is starting to run a bit yellowy and alot. I think the nurofen is starting to wear off a bit. Her cough sounds quite chesty too...I don't know if I'm being a hypochondriac for her though, lol! I just don't wnat her to go to cc and be miserable. I know they will call me, but I know she's a bit sick too....arrrgghh!!!
Go with your gut! If you can saty home with her without too much angst. I have pushed DD before and felt awful - so this is a reaction to my vow to not ever do that again.
It is a hard one - you know what will sit best with you and DD, also no point going to work and spending the whole time worrying or waiting for the call.
Good luck - hope everyone is better soon.
Yep, I agree with Mel (Arimeh)... also like Mak said, go with your gut. Oskar has just had a cold which had the chesty cough and Elijah then got it off him but his is apparently also an upper respitory infection. If you feel you need to go to the doc, then do that. Gut feelings are there for a reason. Hope she feels better soon.
yep if your gut feeling says she she not well then keep her home...
i err om the side of caution - i dont want to push DS if he is unwell and i also dont want to send him sick and risk other kids getting sick too..
I just wanted to pop in and say that if a child has a temprature then it's usually a sign of infection and probably best not to send them to daycare for 24hrs after having a temp due to the risk of infecting other children with something.
I hope your little one is feeling better.
*sigh* too bad I didn't get all these responses earlier, lol!! I sent her and although she was ok at school, she went downhill fast when she got home. Like she was saiting for me!! Her temp went up to 38.2 about an hour after we got home She's been one big sooky clingy whingy pants. I can't help but htink if I had have kept her home and taken her to the dr she wouldn't be feeling so bad. She's vegging out watching Dora now, actually laying there watching it, so not like her! I wouldn't normally have sent her, but I have only been at this job since May and I have almost literally had a day off a week with one of the kids sick or the other. I think there has been about three weeks that I have worked a full week! Should have listened to my gut, but I felt guilty about having another day off and not being 100% sure she was too sick to be there or not. Oh well, another day off tomorrow. I have already called and let my boss know!
Thanks ladies, I appreciate the advice

Hope she feels better soon. Isn't it awful though how we have to think of our jobs in such a way where we don't know what we should do when it really should be a no brainer. I hate that part of the working life! It's not just when our kiddies are sick, but also ourselves. Hope you feel better too.
Thats true Cass, but in taking a job you do have responsibility to your employer too as well as workmates. I just wish i didnt have to work. Not that i don't like my work, but i just want to be home with my babes while they're so little.
