Red cheeks

Hi

My almost 5 month old has had red cheeks for the past two days, but no other symptoms like crankiness, fever etc (I thought it might've been teething). I have just changed his formula a few days ago, could that cause red cheeks? He doesn't seem at all bothered by the red cheeks...

Red cheeks at this age are very common. Their little chubby cheeks stick out quite a bit so they get rubbed and covered in saliva etc which causes them to go red. DS had very red dry cheeks at this age. Something that worked for him was paw paw ointment. I used to put it on at night after his bath and they were clear by the morning.

Bella always has pink cheeks weeks before she gets teeth - then when the teeth are coming through that she gets a bit cranky. Maybe teeth??

Maybe on of the other ladies can shed some more light!

my ds had the same thing at that age too. He used to get red cheeks all the time, we thought it was teething but he showed no other symptoms. I don't think its anything to worry about too much.

yep i wouldnt think it is anything to worry about - the red cheeks can be a sign of teething (and also my DS gets them when he is sick with a temp etc) but also when they are young it cab be irritation from drool etc.
also if he has been out in the wind they couldbe a little wind burnt - but if not bothering him i wouldnt worry. you could moisturise them if they feel a bif rough or sore (i use jurlique cream which is fab)

Is he hot or have a tempreture? flushed cheeks are a good sign of this, even if there is not any grizzles or discomfort...

Mj had red cheeks for ages before getting teeth.
I took it as a sign that something was moving in there. MJ had teeth on the move for about 3 months before he first one actually cut through. They do a lot of moving first.
Is he rubbing hus cheeks/mouth or touching his ears? its usually as sign that they are moving and there is some discomfort there.
I would second the paw paw ointment, MJ has terrible dribble rash and this helped better than anything else.
Although it will not take the red out of the cheek it its just increase blood flow (due to irritation of gums with teeth moving) but will help with any dryness or topical irritation.

If he doesnt seem bothered i wouldnt be too concerned.
