    What to do

I am at a loss at the moment

I applied to study the bachelor of Early Childhood Education in 2008 and started the course, during this time i had a lot happen in my life. the death of two close family friends, my own pg loss after IVF cycle 9, my DH loss his job and i was asked to work full time to keep the center running where i work until they found a new director. needless to say i left the course during the first semester as i was trying to study full time!

Im in a rut at the moment i want to progress in my career but feel i am going no where, i also want a change! I have been in Early childhood services for 12 years. I dont want to be a kinder teacher and feel this was the main focus of the course.

My options are looking into a nursing degree
    Mid degree
    social work degree

I would like to get into parent education and there is a short course offered at Swinburne Uni which i have looked into but am waiting for it to be offered in my area.

My big problem is that more than anything i want to be a mum, that is proving to be a costly expense for us at the moment and after going through 14 IVF cycles (stims and frozen) with the medicare changes i feel that i am unable to even consider studying again.

i tend to start lots of things and not finish them and the prospect of studying for four years or even 8 part time if available scares me! I have a diploma in Children's services (10 years ago) and Cert IV in business (3 years ago)

I just dont know what to do?

Sounds like you need to talk to someone... maybe a course counsellor can help you put things in perspective and make your options a bit clearer.

Does your Uni offer that service?

    Sorry I'm not more help

you really need a careers advisor, maybe the uni can help?
I think you would be a brilliant nurse BTW.

    Thanks ladies,

TBH (just had this discussion with DH) i wouldnt mind being an IVF nurse, i guess they have a general nursing degree? I will find out what other experiance they have as i cant see myself being a nurse in a hospital for too long, im not good with death or anything like that .................................................. .......

oh i just dont know! studying full time for four years and try to pay for IVF is going to be very hard

Nursing is 3 years babe according to what I have found out for Jess. Could you do it externally and work too?
I know my FDC lady's DD is doing nursing and working enough at Franklins to live out of home and run a car etc so FT is not every day really, would your job let you work PT around your course?
Jess is terrified of the blood and gore too but has been reassurd that it gets much easier throughout the course.
