I've just come from an overseas holiday - and have put on heaps of weight.I've been pretty healthy before but always a bit on the chubby side still Now I'm not healthy at all, and I'm more than just chubby!
There's so much out there and I think I need to join something that's going to give me a bit of a kick start - but not sure which or what, there's sureslim, jenny craig, weight watchers but am also considering to see a dietician, anyone got any advice on what to do? I do a bit of self sabotage on the side too I'm always a hard person on myself so any advice with this in mind will be greatly appreciated
I have used Weight Watchers & found it to be very helpful in reconnecting healthy potions & food. I generally eat quite healthily but have too much of it.
Personally I'd go dietician - you want to lose it slowly and safely.
I put on weight with Weight Watchers & Jenny Craig - seems my body doesn't like highly processed, artifical foods like the the ones they recommend (I swear my body sees the words "weight watchers" and bulks up) - I find eating, natural foods, cooking from scratch, snacking on healthy stuff during the day, not having junk food in the house, dishing up on a smaller plate - is the best way for me to lose weight.
I'm on Weight Watchers. Lost 11kg so far! However, when I went a bit off the rails, I've gained some. Not a lot, at most 500g. 500g is nothing, but I felt like such a failure when that came up! I wouldn't have lost 11kg with out WW though.
Weight Watchers! It is about healthy eating, portion control and is easy to follow. It is also cheaper then alot of the other ones.
Disclaimer: I am extremely bias as I lost 30kg with WW 3yrs ago and then got a job with them. But honestly, anything that is healthy and works for you is good. The only food program to steer clear of IMHO are the diet shake ones - they are not healthy or balanced, nor do they promote long term weight management. A large portion of weight watchers customers have previously lost weight on the various 'shake' meal replacement diets only to regain the weight when stopping.
good luck with whatever you choose.
P.S. I am back at WW as a member to 're-loose' 27kg I gained whilst pg, when I decided a family sized block of choc a day was a good idea

Ah thanks everyone - I wish it wasn't so confusing I guess, what works for one may not work for another. No wonder its such a multimillion dollar industry!
I think I'm going to go through a dietician - problem is to find a good one.....how do I go about it? I've googled dietiticans and the first name that I got back was Susie Burrell - she has her site and has worked with some rugby teams. She works near Kogarah, which is too far away from me!

My oldest sister lost 73k in one year - her secret? She joined a gym (she couldn't even walk around the block without nearly passing out mind you) and got personal training. For that first year she was going 6 days a week (and walking the block on her day off). Her personal trainer made her do a food diary and made sure she was only eating fruit, veg and lean meat. It was ridiculous watching all the weight fall off her...I love telling people how she did it the old fashioned way....excercise and eating healthily!
Excercise and eating healthy is the only way to do it. WW is a good start. They teach you a lot about what is going on in your plate and it's easy to count the points
