3.5 month old wakes around 5am and unsettled/upset around 2 hrs (sleeps on and off)

J seems to wake around 5am with something bothering him, he is quite unsettled for a couple of hours - stays in basinette but needs patting etc and is crying out... wondering if it is wind pain but i have used infacol overnight... he does do a big poo often around 9 or 10am so maybe it is that? i am not sure... any tips/ideas/advice on this one welcome...PLEASE!
is it just a stage i need to wait out?
i think N had it too, but we used to get up with him... not sure when this was or how long it lasted...
He generally feeds around 7.30pm, 11.3pm, 2am, 4am and then this..
I have tried settling without feeding for 1 of those feeds.. didnt chg anything...
he is ok at self settling and is generally really happy..

Hi MamaPan, can you bring him into bed with you? He might just need a cuddle. My DD comes into bed with me around 4ish & cluster feeds in the morning. I find that having her in bed with me we both get some sleep & she doesn't fuss.

Hmmm he does like a cuddle around then, so i do sit in bed and cuddle him.. my DH isnt comfortable with co sleeping when they are young so thats not an option for a few more mnths yet...

Is the room getting colder then or changing in temperature to an extreme? the coldest part of the morning here is right before dawn so that could be an issue. Charlie likes to cuddle me in the mornings too and doze with me so that could be the problem. Seems she likes to get extra close after sleeping in the cot all night.

hmm that'sa good point, will look at that. i do have the heating on overnight but maybe he is cold.. might pop an extra blanket on him when he wakes at that time tomorrow and see what happens..

ohhh its the worst time isnt it....your dying for just an extra hour sleep before you lonnnnnnnnnnnng day begins, and then this happens...
I was goinog to suggest he cold too - happened a few weeks ago with H- waking around 430-5am....i would bring him into our bed (DH has no choice...), he did this for a few mornings, then got a snuffy nose, and got a cold. So defn due to the cooler nights...also found having a wet nappy didnt help.....
