UTI and inflammation and possible prolapse!

sooooo I was having incontinence problems a few weeks ago and for two weeks I put it down to this being my second pregnancy, everything being looser blah blah. I had no pain, no need to pee anymore than normal either, just when I was squatting at work or picking up my 1 year old nephew I would lose a little wee wee.

Anyhoo I finally went to the docs and he did a urine test, and confirmed I had an infection, so I was given some antibiotics and my incontinence has cleared up.

This week I went to see my normal doctor for a check up and she did another urine test and this time there is inflammation...what I want to know is.. what is inflammation? She didn't seem concerned about it but I'd never heard of this before, I've googled and found some stuff on this but I wondered if anybody else has been told this before.

And finally .... I have had this aching, dragging feeling from down below (as if I've been kicked in that area, ridden a horse for a week or had a bit of a naughty night with DH) it was happening alot while I was at work. I work at Bunnings, so I walk around on a cold concrete floor for 8 hours serving customers, I never sit...only for lunch and tea breaks. I was taking little five minute breaks to alleviate the pressure/dragging/aching feeling and it was working.

    TMI alert!
Now I have a big lump on the right hand side of my vagina, exactly where I had my episiotomy, it was there a few weeks ago but MUCH smaller. Now it is quite large and seems to be bigger after I have a shower (i guess all the hot water makes my blood swell in that area maybe?) I showed my doctor this but of course lying down on the doctor bed and not being right out of the shower she couldn't see what I was talking about.

I'm just wondering if I might be having a prolapse..slowly, my episiotomy was 36 stitches and there is also a tear down there too. I am only moving my bowels every 2nd or 3rd day and have had a UTI which of course from googling seems to indicate a possible prolapse...

Any thoughts or similarities are welcome..and I'm doing pelvic exercises like crazy now :P

I know someone that has a bladder prolapse, there are different levelse of this, it can be no problem and there are different things they can do like out in a thing that acts as a fake pelvic floor. Its important to find out why this happens, mostlikely in your case pregnancy. I wouldnt be stressing out about this but I would definitely get this checked asap Goodluck hope all goes well

Hi darling. Basically with a uti you will get inflammation so I am not sure what your careprovider was meaning?

It could be a vaginal prolapse or it could be a varicose vein. This can happen sometimes where an epi was performed.

Take yourself off to see your midwife or your obs and get them to have a little look.

The weight of the baby I wouldn't think would cause a prolapse so much at this stage of pregnancy but of course it's possible.

Just get it seen to - I think that's important.

There are things that can be done to minimise the prolapse if you indeed have one. Please don't suffer in silence. Seek ot some help my love...

    Hey Linzy

When I was pregnant with my DS (second bub) I had that similar feeling to what you describe and thought I had a vaginal prolapse too or a tumour or something! I was stressing out big time! I told my ob and he said it is pretty unlikely that it's a true vaginal prolapse and that they are pretty rare. He had a squiz, and like you say it's not as bad when you lay down. Anyway mine wasn't a prolapse, he said it was just because everything is a bit swollen, it can seem like things are falling out Mine disappeared though, and after the birth everything has gone back to normal!..thankgoodness!
    Perhaps yours is something similar?!

Saw my midwife yesterday, everything is fine, no prolapse she thinks its just 'one of those things' lots of blood, could be a varicose vein, might go away, and like you guys said as it is exactly where my episiotomy is that there is alot of scar tissue and things can go a bit lumpy. So big weight off my mind
