SO I have tried alot of different "diets" etc over the years and am a massive yo-yo-yo-yo-yoer!!!
I have been doing Weight Watchers for 3 months now and have lost 8Kg so am pretty happy with that as I like that I am never starving, can eat quite a bit and no food is actually off limits IYKWIM.
I am just wondering what has been the most successful program (if you have been on one) has been for you?
Weight watchers was the best for me too. I lost just over 21kg in 6 months when I did it before I got married. I'm doing it again now but it's not the huge success it was before which I think is to do with my AF and hormones in general. I'm hoping some acupuncture will sort it out so I can get back on track again. But yeah, as far as diets go it's the best one I"ve found because you are never hungry and it teaches you how to prepare your own food. Not to mention not having to have anything special - it's just the regular food the rest of the family eats.
I've been keeping a food diary on Calorie King - that helps me keep a mental note of the food I eat and how it affects my calorie intake. Helps me make smarter food choices which keep me fuller for longer too (low GI foods).
I also exercise for an hour each day and don't eat back my calories if I don't feel hungry.
I've still managed to lose a kilo + each week since I've started.
I find low carb works for me. I did Atkins many years ago and I lost over 21kgs, felt great as well. Now I don't tend to go full on low carb, but I just find being very aware of the high carb foods does help. I have a tendency if I am eating bread, pasta or potatoes that other foods drop off, like leafy greens. So I will try to have meat and salad, as opposed to a ham and cheese sandwich.
I've lost 10kgs on weight watchers several years ago. It stayed off too, until I started ttc and all of the emotional eating that went with it....then pregnancies and kids...If I could afford it I would do it again, but unfortunately, $17 or whatever it is these days is a bit too exxy for us at the mo I have over 25kg to lose and I could do with some help!
I think it works because it is a realistic 'diet' which the whole family can have. There's no special requirements or anything, just sensible eating. And they also offer advice on the other aspects of weight management like exercise and the mental/emotional side of it too.
