    Do you feel fit?

I'm slightly chubby which I blame entirely on my baby (& chocolate)but I feel fit. I could walk anywhere, find 5 kms no drama for a walk, love hills, struggle with pushups but I reckon hauling a 9kg baby around all day will take care of my arms eventually. But I love the way I feel, even if my weight is not perfect & I'm not a skinny mini.

Do you feel fit? Do you love the way your body feels strong and capable? Do you forgive the love handles when you trust your legs to get you where you want to go?

Just a passing thought really, but I wanted to know what the rest of the BBers out there were feeling about their bodies.

I feel fat frumpy and definately NOT fit... We went to the zoo on Sunday and I had to keep stopping and sitting down.

No I don't. I blame the fact I eat Brie for breakfast and refuse to walk anywhere...

I do miss my body being strong and capable. It's a total waste.

That's it - I'm starting Roller Derby ASAP.

I'm back on my exercise regime and I feel 100 times better for it.

The weight will come off in time, but its great when the kids go to bed and I scoot around the house bending down (well, I make it a squat lol) to pick up the toys and I feel the strength thru my legs, and I'm not huffing and puffing to do so - I feel great - with the spare tyre and all. It just inspires me to feel fitter and stronger by continuing with the exercise, than it does to lose the weight, IYKWIM.

So I totally get what you mean!

I love my body but I don't feel fit at the moment. I know my cardio fitness is lacking big time, it is something that I am slowly working on.

I have lost a LOT of weight in the last year or so, still got more to go but it will happen when it happens.

BK (and the toys) love my body

Definitely not! If anything I've put on more weight since having DD... I just can't find the time to exercise, I was taking both DD and the dog for a walk every morning but now it's just getting too warm. But even that wasn't going to make me 'fit' or lose any weight...more for the benefit of the dog and getting out of the house! We have Wii fit but I doubt that is going to get me to lose weight either, especially when I only use it probably once a month. Lol. And my constant grazing isn't doing me any good either.

I feel fat and frumpy and I hate my 'flabby' bits..I was always fairly slim but now I can barely fit into size 12 pants, I know it could be worse but still makes me sad. I think my tummy is the worst bit though if I could just get rid of that I think i would feel a lot better about my body.

But I have DD and she is my bright spark, so for now I can live with my body although I don't like it too much, because she was the result!

    I soooo hear you Leesa!

Its the not huffing & puffing part I love, that things feel easy. I know what you mean about the feeling of being fit is better than the weight loss. I haven't lost much weight but I can feel the tone coming back into my legs. And that makes me want to keep walking, or turn it into a run (I've tried but my breastfeeding boobies are tooooo bouncy!)

I'm excited about roller-derby for you Lulu! What is your name going to be? Can't wait to hear it!! PS There is NOTHING wrong with brie for breakfast! I love brie...mmmmm....

I'm sorry you feel fat & frumpy Sally. Are you able to walk in the evening with the kids? I chuck DD in the pram most days during witching hour.

Go Punks with the cardio fitness. When I was getting really fit before I had DD, I found my cardio fitness was the quickest thing to come back, much quicker than my muscle fitness. I would be cramping up or my legs would be jelly well before I got puffed out. I really hope you get there, because its such a good feeling!

ss_storm, you're only 3 months in, you've got plenty of time for that baby belly to come off!

Go Pony with the crunches & pushups!

I've started a few replies to this but am at a loss as to how to word things. No I don't feel fit. But no-one believes me and tells me there's no problem so it's really hard to be motivated to be fit, even though I'm incredibly unhealthy.
Maybe I'm a heir to something and don't know about it, and they all want me to die so they can inherit?

I'm sorry you feel that way Nelle, I hope you find some inspiration / motivation. And I'm sure people think there is no problem with the best of intentions.

It's cos you aren't carrying extra weight chick. I piled on a few extra but nothing huge (cept me guts) - but it doesn't mean we are healthy or toned OR fit.
I couldn't run down the end of the street without having a near coronary....

I hear you Nelle - I see a lot of my friends who arn't overweight but also aren't healthy. Skinny and healthy don't always go hand in hand.

I feel fit, and it is awesome. I've worked SO hard to get where I am, and I just love getting out there and working it.
I love being with friends and having to run for a train, (or to the bottleshop before it closes!) and not getting out of breath - expecially when it's with school friends, cos I was the fat kid at school.

If you truly feel OK about where you are, well, that's great. But don't kid yourself. Sometimes I hear people say "Oh, but I'm happy with the way I am" and I think "Really? You're happy with elevated risks of heart disease, diabetes and some cancers? You're happy missing out on things (like trains and bottleshops and bikinis)?" I know that's mostly to do with weight, not fitness, but the same sort of thinking applies.

I got sick of missing out on stuff, and that's why I turned it around. I'd never been an excuse-maker, but I can see how people use things as crutches (that dodgy knee, no time cos of kids/work/online scrabble tournaments) to avoid it. It's a hard hole to dig out of.

But it can be done! (says the girl who plans to slob out the rest of the day on the couch....)

Nelle, I'm the same. I've always been small and slim and now with BF I'm thinner than I have been at highschool. But I am NOT healthy or fit. I need to eat better and I do NO exercise. Walks bore me to death and it's too hot here now so I'm wondering what i'll do about it, hmm...

I looked at hiring a treadmill (so I can watch trashy telly whilst on it) but it was really expensive....

    Great thread Winter!

Yes, I feel very strong and capable, and I'm really pleased with my body at the moment. Its a far cry from where I was in the few weeks after DS was born though. My c-section was unexpected and being a fit, strong girl beforehand and during pregnancy, I had never ever been so weak & immobilised before in my life. It was a real blow to my body and mind.

It wasn't until I got back into my regular pilates at about 8 weeks post-natal that I realised how strong I really was. I did pilates all through pregnancy and didn't realise just how much strength I'd retained, even modifying for my preggo belly. And now, I am stronger than I was pre-pregnancy, I've moved up a chart at my pilates circuit and I am so proud of myself and my strength. I feel like I could do anything!

I haven't managed to get back on my mountain bike though, bit too hot here right now. Thats a whole different kettle of fish LOL.
