When ExDF and i broke up i went on the single parenting pension and they sent me a letter saying we have made you an app regarding your eligibility for parenting payment etc...
When i got there she just said "we believe you are in a relationship bla bla bla" so i had to set them straight AGAIN.
I received the exact same letter again on friday..... My last app was maybe 6 months ago!? why do they want to see me again? Im still single and nothing has changed!!!
Ok, I'd say the first time someone might have *ahem, made a call and said you were in a relationship (can and does happen just out of spite), or there might have been something tripped on the computer, or flagged. No big deal - you know you aren't living with anyone etc.
This second thing may well be the usual routine interview that happens to everyone. Randomly generated, but entirely necesarry in the bigger picture.
i was going to say the same thing - the first one would have been due to someone doing a tip off (which may have been out of spite, to make life difficult) - the second, if it's been six months, would be a simple review of circs. they go through and make sure that everything (bank accounts, assets etc) are all as they should be
because you had a child this year and are single... maybe they just check out these things. The difference between the single payment and married/partnered is huge so they may just be covering their arses...lol
And to check you arent making another baby ..lol whilst saying you are single.
Maybe someone dobbed you in hmmmmm
RR - as previously mentioned, it's more likely that it's just a normal review of circumstances. happens to singles, happens to couples - if you're on income support, they have to review your circumstances regularly to ensure you're not getting over paid or under paid. it's got nothing to do with how recently your baby was born. reviews are carried out at least once a year - and often twice a year. almost everyone i've dealt with that has gone onto payments (myself as a teen, my parents, brother when younger, friends) have had a review after that first 6-8 months - then at least annually after that - if there are earnings being reported it's often more regularly cos they get you to bring in payslips
some other things will trigger reviews automatically - withdrawal of csa claim from the paying parent (they check to confirm that you haven't reconciled), signing a tax declaration form through ATO (if you don't declare earnings within a month, you will be reviewed) - simple little things to make sure everything is correct on the system
