Red face How to stop patting to sleep?

    Hey All

My DD2 is 5 months next weekand I would like to stop patting her to sleep, if I can.
I am not keen on CC, but I am sick of patting her for 10-40 mins to get her to sleep.

Any thoughts on what I could do?
Do I just leave her and she will do it on her own?

    Please help me!!!

I kind of pat DS (same age as your DD) just to calm him down (only takes about one minute at most if he's a bit upset). Then I listen to his breathing - if its slowed down then I know I'm fairly safe that I can put him in the cot and (I'm lucky) he'll self settle...

Each baby is different and I think will adapt to what the parents put into a routine...

It so hard I just thought she we would stop wanting to be held, like DD1 did.

I just do not know how to teach her...

Try putting her to bed and patting her asleep while she is lying down. When she is used to this routine reduce the patting time. Let her see you then move out of sight. I found sitting on the floor easier on my back and legs, backside was another matter.
It takes awhile but it works.
