Can you buy one on that rent to buy scheme? Trial it, show him how much you would use it?
Does he have any vices? Play on those ie his drinking/smoking/gambling etc
    Umm good luck

If you dont want to buy brand new, ring around some gyms and see if they are updaing their equipment and are wiling to sell you a second hand one cheap. You never know.

Also reccomend renting one for a few months. Just to see how often you use it, etc.

    Hi there,

I found a great place to get a treadmill for good $$ value is on Ebay, off some of the companies on there. We live up north WA where its not real safe to be walking around by yourself plus its far too hot, so we managed to get one which would RRP for around $2500, it has all the fandangle things on it - we got it for $600 + postage which was awesome.

My mum also bought one on Ebay for around $600. It was great. Pitty she never uses it ......

Also checkout your discount department stores online and maybe even graysonline - you never know what you will find there.

Or if your DH is a big kid then try for a Wii with Wii Fit Plus - I can vouch for it - it uses every muscle group - I can hardly walk today!!

I'd recommend hiring one. I convinced hubby to buy one last Christmas, and after using it flat out for 3 months the novelty wore off, and I now have the most expensive clothes hanger ever...... and I am reminded of it everytime hubby walks past it.

Hi lisaandshaun I think ebay is the way to go too or perhaps put up a wanted notice on the community notice boards, you could even register on your local freecycle website and post a wanted item... I think treadmills are somethign many people would sell as they dont' end up using them and a prompt from someone wanting to buy could spark some interest and you may get a few calls.

I have a treadmill which I was worried I wouldn't use but I have gotten my monies worth, maybe speak to your husband and turn it around to 'your health being the most important' not the money, in fact you will save money by buying a treadmill because there will be less health related expenses down the track
