Question Washing machine is getting grubby WTD?

My washing machine seems to be building up grime in it. Admittedly it is being used more with 4 of us in the house and the nappies. What do you use or do to get rid of the build up? Is there a natural cleaner ie vinegar or bicarb that would help it or is there something else that you use?

    Thanks

*goes and gets my vinegar cleaning book*

    Clean your washing machine
An easy way to periodically clean out soap scum and disinfect your washing machine washer is to pour in 450ml (2 cups) of white distilled vinegar, then run the machine through a full cycle without any clothes or detergent.

DH has terribly dirty work clothes and I put half a cup of vinegar in with this wash. But I also do a bowl clean wash with vinegar and hot water like Charlie Brown Girl suggested, I put it on the longest cycle and let the hot water soak.

Ryatha, Shannon Lush is awesome for cleaning hints and tips. The information I provided to you is from "Vinegar, 1001 practical household uses" from Bookclub at work.
