    Curried rice

    I have never cooked curried rice, DS had dinner at his friends house and absolutely loved the curry and asked me to make it . Please can someone give me a recipe.

    I have a few different ones hopefully one suits you

    Ingredients:

    * 4 cups cooked rice
    * 1/2 cup grated carrot
    * 1/2 cup celery
    * 1/2 cup sultanas
    * 1/2 cup mayonnaise
    * 2 teaspoons chives
    * 1 teaspoon curry powder
    * 1 tablespoon oil
    * 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
    * salt and pepper to taste
    * 1/2 cup pecans (optional)

    Method:

    Cook rice.

    Cut up the celery into small pieces and add to the rice.

    Mix in carrots, sultanas and other ingredients.

    If using pecans add them last, then mix through thoroughly.

    * 200g (1 cup) long-grain white rice
    * 120g (3/4 cup) frozen baby peas
    * 2 tsp Madras curry powder
    * 2 tsp vegetable oil
    * 1 brown onion, halved, coarsely chopped
    * 2 tbs flaked almonds
    * Pinch of salt

    Method

    1. Cook the rice in a large saucepan of boiling water following packet directions. Add the peas 2-3 minutes before the end of cooking. Drain. Rinse under cold water. Drain well. Place in a large serving bowl. Add the curry powder and stir to combine.
    2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a non-stick frying pan over mediumhigh heat. Add onion and cook, stirring, for 5-6 minutes or until golden brown. Add almonds and cook, stirring, for 1-2 minutes or until toasted. Add the onion mixture to the rice mixture. Season with salt and stir to combine. Serve immediately.

    Ingredients:

    1/2 cup finely chopped onion
    2 tablespoons butter or margarine
    2 1/2 cups uncooked long grain rice
    2 garlic cloves, minced
    1 tablespoon curry powder
    5 cups broth
    1 tablespoon soy sauce
    1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped, optional
    1 20 ounce can unsweetened pineapple chunks, drained or the equivalent of fresh pineapple
    4 green onions, chopped


    Method:

    In a large saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in rice, garlic, and curry powder. Add broth, soy sauce and jalapeno, if desired. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
    Remove from the heat and let stand for 5 minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Stir in green onions and pineapple chunks.
    Serves 12 to 14.

    600 ml chicken broth
    175 g rice
    6 tomatoes
    2 tbsp fresh chopped cilantro
    1 tbsp oil
    1 tbsp curry paste
    1 tsp ground cilantro
    1 tsp ground cumin
    1 onion chopped large
    Salt and pepper

    Preparing:

    Cut 4 tomatoes in half, remove the heart and reserve.
    Cut the remaining tomatoes into large pieces, mix with the chopped cilantro and reserve.

    Fry for 3 minutes onion in oil and add the tomato halves, curry paste, coriander, cumin, salt and pepper.
    Add rice, fry for 3 minutes and add chicken broth.
    Cook over low heat until rice is ready.

    Remove from heat and mix with chopped tomatoes.

    are we talking about curry rice salad? or yellow rice that u serve your curry on? or a curry recipie to be served with steamed rice?

    Sorry, didn't explain myself very well did I .
    A curry served with rice. DS said the mixture had meat and vegies but got no idea how to make the curry sauce.

    aahhh i thought you meant actual curried rice - ill get out my curry cookbook and have a look

    we eat a lot of curries here all home made especially sweet ones yummo with fruit in it like mango peach banna or pinapple.. my biggest tip as mrs s is getting her cook book out for ya is to prior to cooking with the spices taste each one before dry cooking the spices to realese flavors that way when u are making it you will get an idea of what spices u need to add mroe of... MY fav spice is gara masala yummo. Our kids love my curries, my dad tought me as he is indian.
