I have bad skin, and I hate it so much. Its really bumpy, especially on my forehead, with "blind pimples" which at times can be quite red. My skin tone is also just not happy- no glow, looks a bit sad in general.
There definately seems to be a hormonal connection- my skin used to be much worse, as did my periods. During later pregnancy, my skin was awesome, and now post-pg, my skin (and my periods) are not as bad as before, but still not so great. I don't know what, if anything, I can do about the hormonal aspect.
But what else can I do to help it? I know I need to drink more water. I cleanse with Cetaphil everyday and put on a good moisturiser and sun screen. I exfoliate when I remember, probably every couple of weeks.
Hey hun, I got really bad skin about a year ago and I tried so many things. The worst for me ewas anything with chemicals in...the dried out my skin and made it so much worse. I was also getting really bad pimples on my neck under my chin.
In the end I swapped to a natural sh and con, natural moisturiser and all natural shower gel. It took a few months but it's getting better.
I also use a wild yam cream that suppoasedly helps lol!
Start with a certified organic skin care range. So many skin problems come from the products we use. Supermarket brands are cheap products with cheap ingredients. You really do get what you pay for. (Google ORGANIC SPA SKIN CARE)
You can get blemish spot treatments which help initially clear up problem area's
Lots of water, cut down on fats and sugars, wash your face morning and night.
Sun exposure, caffiene, alcohol and smoking are shocking for your skin, as is heating and air conditioning. The best product I can reccommend is a certified organic vitamin C serum, which is a powerful antioxidant that helps revers the free radicals in the skin.
Oh and i forgot to ad, if you can, book in for a facial somewhere. The therapist is trained to analyse your skin type and deal with your concerns, reccommending the correct products for you
I'd splash out and go to a salon for microdermabrasion or a peel. I've had both and they really brighten your skin and clear up the congestion.
I had an Osmosis facial infusion peel before I got pregnant (can have them while pg bummer!), it was great! My face did peel for a couple of days afterwards but then my skin was incredible!
I see you're in Melbourne, I had the peel done at Facial Attraction Laser and Skin Clinic in Ivanhoe, but they have salons all over Melb if you google them.
